From the moment we opened the door to the Bergey cottage, we knew we had found the perfect weekend getaway to celebrate my husband’s birthday. With soft music playing, we felt like we had walked into a spa retreat where we could escape the hassles of everyday life and just sit back and relax. The jacuzzi tub, complete with bath salts and candles, was a perfect stress reliever and the dual fireplace added a romantic feel to both the bedroom as well as the tub. We couldn’t be happier with the accommodations, there was nothing that we needed that wasn’t available to us. There was even a Happy Birthday message on one of the plates, giving our stay a more personalized feel. The owners truly thought of everything and my husband and I can’t wait to come back. We would definitely recommend By The Side Of The Road Getaway Lodging to anyone looking for a relaxing weekend getaway. …

If you want a warm, cozy, and inviting place to stay, this is it! When we arrived there was light music playing with dimmed lighting, very comforting. A welcome plate with our name on it was an appreciated touch. The bed was the most comfortable we have ever stayed on. So much so we had to find out where they got their sheets! We will definitely be returning!

Great place to stay for the weekend. It had everything we needed. We had breakfast with coffee in our room every morning. Nice and comfortable bed and linens. Very quiet neighborhood. Our friends stayed in the other cottage.

Very neat and cozy cottage, very clean and comfortable. The property manager was very nice and helpful. We stayed at the mountain laurel cottage which had a very spacious bathroom and shower. Great location close to JMU and Shenandoah National Park.

Everything about our stay was top-notch. The details on the rental were fantastic (music playing upon arrival, candles we could safely light). Bathroom/Shower area was really fancy and felt like an extra special treat.

What a lovely place! Our accommodations in the Mountain Laurel Guest Cottage were so comfortable. We loved the deck for morning coffee and meditation. We experienced an air conditioning problem on our second night but the host quickly made accommodations for us to switch to a suite right across the hall. He was very responsive and kind. While I loved the deck and the amazing shower, probably the most memorable experience was simply sitting under the magnificent Weeping Willow tree by the pond just outside our cottage. Very conveniently located, this was a great place to stay and relax. Highly recommend.

We selected Bergey Cottage to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. The romance package was worth every penny. The cozy cottage was perfect for two. The little touches from the candles to the bath salts made the tub a perfect couples treat. The porch was perfect for moonlit talks deep into the night. It was so awesome we already booked our next visit.

Our stay in the Quill Cottage was delightful. The decor was lovely, the amenities were abundant, the bed sheets were so soft and the jacuzzi was relaxing. We felt pampered the moment we stepped in the door. Our daughter lives in town and we told her to recommend this establishment to anyone who comes to visit her in Harrisonburg. We hope to stay again sometime.

Stayed in the mountain laurel studio and it was beautiful. Has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Very close to downtown and all the great restaurants and so nice to have large space to come back to and relax. Great view of the pond and weeping willow.
