We read some very negative reviews of this facility from November 2022. Upon arrival expressed our concern and asked to see our room before checking in. Very accommodating staff showed us our room. No issues at all. No smells found (claimed in other reviews). Room was clean and without problems of any kind. Courteous and helpful staff. Would recommend to others.
My room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The only issue was the plug-ins in lamp bases were so loose, you couldn't get power to CPAP or phone charger. Someone in another room had the same problem. I just used the wall receptacles. Bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful. Lots of restaurants around for dinner.
Some reviewers are perennial grumps!! It’s a LONG time since we stayed at a Sleep Inn — we took a chance for a quick overnight. It clean & efficient and we had a dog (extra charge for dog policy — though we weren’t charged.) Booked though Hotwire
Upon notifying the hotel that I was double charged for a stay in mid-July 2022, as I learned when reviewing my bank statement, I was told that MANY people had been double charged during the timeframe of my stay. The loose explanation I was given - "they believe their system was hacked." I have spoken with numerous people at the hotel and a third-party "partner" ReservationDesk.com. Weeks have passed and I am still waiting for reconciliation. Other statements were made by hotel personnel that suggest this incident is bigger than what I describe here, as I was told "we cannot share that information" in response to a query on how they are compensated by ReservationDesk.com. DO NOT TRUST reservationdesk.com OR Sleep Inn with your debit card. The small savings they use as bait to trust their service is easily lost by the amount of time it takes to rectify a problem they acknowledge having. I will update this review as the situation progresses.…
About what you'd expect for a lower end hotel, but beware - it's nowhere near the expectations of the high quality reviews shown here, which is why we booked this particular one. The service was by far the worst I've ever experienced at a hotel. I've stayed at hotels half the price of this one in Harrisonburg and gotten significantly better service. We arrived late at night after most guest have already checked in. No one was at the front counter when we walked in - a little odd since nothing would be taking place that late, but okay, maybe they're in the back for a minute or doing a nightly check. We waited a bit, no one showed up. Keep in mind there's no bell or notification service. I try calling the hotel, which rang and rang to the front lobby phone with no answer. We knocked on the staff door, still no answer. We walked around the halls and still didn't see anyone. 2 more phone calls, still no answer. We ended up waiting 20+ minutes just to see a staff member, the only way to get their attention was to bang on the door with my fists to which they came stumbling out. I don't know if they were sleeping or what, but it was ridiculous that calling and knocking multiple times no one answered when nothing was going on. If a guest needed to call the front desk, good luck, they're not answering you. When we finally got checked in, we went to the room. A major topic of reviews was good "cleanliness" - it was anything but. Hair covered the shower, toilet, towels, and sink, and a mystery substance was on the bottom of the shower. The room had a weird odor to it, and the fan of the A/C was loud and rattled. Look, I know this is a one-off experience, and you pay for what you get, but $150 should go further for a hotel than the complete lackluster service and profound uncleanliness experienced here. I see this isn't the first bad review in regards to service at the front desk. Management, take notice. Patrons, avoid at all costs.…
Not a lot of bad things, but not as clean (rooms) as others in the same price range within walking distance! Was concerned about the breakfast as the first day they only had biscuits and gravy...I do like that, but not as the sole 'hot' food available. They did have a griddle to make your own waffles and toast, but had higher expectations.
All aspects of my wife & I's stay were great until the hot breakfast. When I got my food, they were out of sausage. My wife told me that the girl in the kitchen was cooking more. I looked in the kitchen & she was putting more sausage in the microwave to heat them up. I watched a while & when the sausages were done the girl left the kitchen & went to the front desk to talk to the guy there. My wife went the desk & told the girl there was no sausage in the dining room. She told my wife the sausages were cooking & they would be out shortly. I went into the kitchen as there was no one there & noticed that nothing was cooking. The girl had started the microwave & just left. I went to the front desk & at this time the manager came out. I told the manager that the girl in the kitchen had lied to my wife, that cooked sausages were done & they could be served now. The girl went back to he kitchen, served the sausages that had been sitting cooked in the microwave then left the building. My wife & I finished our breakfast & left. I didn't see anybody else come to the kitchen or dining room so I don't know if the guests that ate after us had any food to eat.…
The hotel is solid (nice), and it's a great price given the location. Most of the hotels in the area are pricier. The location is close to many shops, restaurants, and JMU. It's easy to get to the interstate. The room was nice and clean, nothing fancy. There was ZERO external noise. It's a pet-friendly hotel (both good and bad if you're allergic). The hotel breakfast is like the hotel itself - nothing fancy but gets the job done. The waffle batter is above average, the coffee was below average. The staff was super helpful and efficient.
Hotel is very pretty and very clean, has everything that you need. Microwave refrigerator coffee maker nice big TV with cable. But when I checked in The clerk asked me what floor I would like I said I'd take a top floor looks like the view is really nice he said okay. And then he assigned me a room in the back of the hotel looking at bushes lol. It sits up on a mountainside and the front view is pretty cool too bad I can't see anything. O well. Room is very comfortable after a very long drive.
When checked in was put in a dirty room. Went back down and given keys for a different room but the keys didnt work and had to be at front desk twice with heavy bags before in a room. However manager helped me and put me in a larger room for no up charge. The room was large with nice view. The bottom of toilet needed cleaning and the towels were not very good. Asked for more towels at front desk and when got to room, they had given me 1/2 a towel that was a rag. Plenty of parking and the hotel is near shops and restaurants. All the staff was very nice. Sadly, there was a domestic issue in the room next to me the last night I was there. The employee called the police and they quickly arrived. I am praying that the female involved is doing better and safe. The hotel comped the last night of my stay and I know they did everything they could based on the circumstances and no fault of their own.…
