This was one of the best hotels I’ve stayed at during my frequent travel by car to/from South Florida from New York State. Clean, welcoming, warm, convenient to highway, restaurants, etc. Fitness room, breakfast, seasonal pool. Highly recommend!
We stayed here for 6 nights from 26 June 2022 and were very happy with the hotel, until we got home to the UK and discovered they'd charged us twice. We booked in January '22 via Booking.com and paid in full. When we arrived at the hotel they tried to charge us again so we produced an email confirming we'd paid in January. They asked for our credit card to be put in the card machine, which is fairly standard practice in hotels, and assured us we wouldn't be charged twice. We had a comfortable stay in a room with a good view over the city, the bed was very comfy, the bathroom had everything you could need and the breakfast was better than we'd expected, having previously stayed in a Holiday Inn Express in Ottawa, though I agree with Porkchop, since we too could have done without Fox News being broadcast to us every morning and the excessive use of plastic and polystyrene which is obviously company policy and environmentally unfriendly. Parking at the hotel was easy and free. We would have liked our wastepaper bin to be emptied more than twice during our stay. Unfortunately, when we got home we discovered that, despite being assured we wouldn't, we had been charged again. It took a while to recover this second payment from our credit card company, hence I am writing this review now we have been refunded. We would stay here again but would take a bank statement with us to prove we'd already paid since email confirmation obviously isn't enough, and we would not put our credit card in the card machine! You have been warned!…
This is a newer well kept property with quite comfortable rooms. We booked two rooms late in the evening and on check in were promptly given two rooms when we checked in at midnight. During the middle of the night someone tried to enter my daughters room. When checking out the next morning and inquiring about the attempted entry we were told that they showed the room empty and had rented it in the middle of the night and had reassigned the guest who tried to enter when that guest returned and said the room was locked from the inside. We would stay here again if in the area because it is a nice property. I realize mistakes happen and I'm glad my daughter is trained to lock her door from the inside because I hate to think of what might have happened had she not.
This hotel is well situated on a hill overlooking Harrisonburg, which is a pretty town. It is close to several chains, but there are restaurants near the college and a cute strip of businesses. The hotel is new and still in pretty good shape and mostly very clean. I like how they've eliminated tiny shampoo bottles, but that system requires that someone check the conditioner bottle level. The pool was nice and clean, although small. It wasn't crowded. No complaints about the room, or bathroom (a couple hairs in the shower) and it was good to have a pull out couch. We had some issues with breakfast. The milk my son pulled was sour, although not quite expired - they were apologetic about the situation though. Fox news was blasting on the television with all kinds of topics inappropriate for my children, and although we were the only group there, it was quite difficult to get the staff to find the remote. They ended up unplugging the television and the manager told us that IHG requires news to be on the breakfast tv. That is silly, but if that's the case, they could pick something like the Today Show and provide lighter content like some recipes and celebrities. I appreciate a free breakfast on site, but I also really have a problem with the amount of breakfast waste produced at chain hotels - everything is plastic and foam, which is terrible. I'd rather have fewer choices (like cinnamon buns, coffee, yogurt, and cereal only) and someone washing dishes instead of making eggs and sausage and worrying about juice or whatever. There was a recycling bin in the lobby that had trash inside it, rendering it useless.…
Stayed here in July and overall it was a good visit. As most have stated, the facility is clean and well maintained. No issues with the room or the staff. Took some time to get some towels and bed sheets but staff was very willing to serve. Not quite seeing what previous reviewers have seen. Maybe that is a good thing!
We were greeting friendly and liked their neat simple set up of typical Holiday Inn Express. However, this HIE has the worse soundproofing that we have ever stayed. You could hear not only the next door’s TV, talking, people at hallway, but also the traffic outsides all night long. If you were light sleep person, even deep sleep person as my child, this hotel definitely not for you. We were usually upgraded to a suite as our IHG Status, but not the case for this hotel. I verified the availability of suite through IHG online reservation at check in, but were told nothing is available to be upgraded. Breakfast was HIE standard. Staff kept them clean and refill on time.
Holiday Inn Express is our usual choice to stay overnight. They usually give you a comfort stay for a reasonable price. However we are very disappointed with this particular hotel. Although it is only 2 years old, the facility in this hotel is even worse than other older ones: the carpet in the room looks like 20 years old; it has an old-fashioned bathtub with curtain. The surface of the bathtub is slippery but there is no anti-slip mat. I actually slipped when took a bath and almost had an injury. The breakfast was particularly disappointing: no fruit, no biscuits, and the only choice of milk is Skim Milk.
We booked the hotel over the Thanksgiving 2021 weekend. We chose this hotel for two reasons: (1) I'm a member of the IHG Rewards Program; (2) It was somewhat less expensive than the competition in the immediate area (aka, Hotel Hill). The property and its management are both new. The good aspect of the newness is that rooms and furnishings, as well as the common area, are squeaky clean. The bad aspect is that the management and staff seem to be new at this. It should be noted that hotels and restaurants are finding it very difficult to hire and retain qualified staff, so lapses in service are to be expected. The newness of management showed during breakfast. The hotel ran out of many breakfast buffet items over the long weekend. Who knew that the hotel would be full during Thanksgiving weekend? We certainly didn't. We're not certain if hotel management expected a full house or breakfast items were in short supply. Whatever the cause, the result was that by Monday breakfast items were limited to coffee plus a handful -- by that I mean fewer than 10 items total -- of snacks. Also, the hotel aired Fox News during breakfast. Perhaps management should be aware that some guests -- like me -- DETEST Fox News. Just as I would not subject a Fox News audience to CNN, MSNBC or PBS, so I do not want to be subjected to Fox News. Get a hint, management. Put some innocuous channel on the television in the morning. Even weekend cartoons would work. Do I think that the management and staff of this hotel will get better? Absolutely. I expect them to be 3+ stars by summer 2022. But know that if you do book the hotel in the next couple of months because of the low price and new facilities, that you will get what you pay for.…
Hotel opened about 2 months ago. Everything was so clean and fresh. GM Michael was helpful in every way possible. Location is in an area with many dining and shopping options. Not far from I-81 with easy access to interstate. Will definitely stay here again!
We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express on its third weekend of being open. The parking is more than adequate. The room was excellent; good size room, very comfortable king bed, a modern type of window shades that were excellent, a very comfortable shower, plenty of counter space in the bathroom, an excellent TV, sufficient room for storage if you wish to unpack. We encountered two problems. First, they did not have carts to take luggage to the room. Second, the breakfast was inadequate. They did not have anyone to prepare the hot food. However, I normally eat a cold breakfast. They had limited fruit and did not have bananas. They did not have bagels. They only had two dry cereals and one was Frosted Flakes. The latter is fine for kids but not for adults. Hopefully, they will get these issues resolved as they go forward.…
