It is very difficult to find accommodations that are "dog friendly " enough to accept two big dogs (bloodhound and lab mix) in one room... sure many places say 'dogs accepted' but there are usually rules around the size.. and usually limited to one.. Paw...More

I've been exploring the area (staying at Okemo in Ludlow) for about a week now. Favorites were mountain hike (6 miles round-trip but no need to go the whole way up) in Okemo State Park and Buttermilk Falls (great swimming hole). Both great with the dog! Is there decent swimming down the gorge? And, bad idea to go on a Sunday? Any off-leash opportunities?

There is a reservoir in Chittenden (close to Rutland) that was great for swimming with the dogs. Mitch at the Pawhouse gave us direction. Also walking trails there but no off leash opportunities.
