We had a great time with limited expectations. You will not find a friendlier staff. Our kids disappeared the moment we arrived and often got told by the staff that bay was closed after dark with a smile on their face and wink of the eye. The accommodations are rustic and harken back to the days before technology (you still...

We hope this will be the beginning of another wonderful tradition of Basin Harbor vacations for this family! We're sorry about the mosquitoes - all the wet weather has brought them out in droves but they'll die off now that we're in a more normal weather pattern. Thank you for staying with us. Sincerely, Pennie Beach Fourth Generation Host

It was a bit of a shock to realize that my first visit to Basin Harbor was over 40 years ago! When I shared that information with another guest he suggested that I must have seen a lot of changes.... Actually not. (All for the good). 5 of us enjoyed 4 days of great food, golf, tennis, boating, swimming, waterskiing,...

Every year, the Basin Harbor Club hosts the Annual Teaching Workshop organized by the Phillip Merrill Center for Strategic Studies at SAIS, Johns Hopkins University. About forty young professors from around the world meet here for a week. As part of this year's program, I have enjoyed my stay tremendously - from the stunning views of sunsets over the lake...

Thank you so much for letting the Basin Harbor family know how much you enjoyed your stay with the Phillip Merrill Center for Strategic Studies! This group enjoys a long relationship with the resort, returning year after year for its important work. We look forward to seeing you again next year. Sincerely, Pennie Beach Fourth Generation Host

When I read one poor review of a resort among many good reviews I attribute the poor review to the old adage, you can't please everyone all the time. I ask everyone that is considering staying at the Basin Harbor Club to please, please reconsider. This is not just one bad review, it's going to save you from being extremely...

We are indeed sorry that this couple didn't let us know of their dissatisfaction during their visit when we could have done something about it instead of telling the world after the fact. The very cottage that they were first shown is referred to in an earlier review as "spotless". We regret that creatures of nature aren't enjoying the rainy...

We spent 4 nights here this week and really enjoyed our stay. We were winners of 2 nights and booked 2 additional nights because we live 325 miles away. We stayed in a studio cottage on the lake. New England has had some heavy rain this spring, and the lake was near flood level. We were both amazed that there...

We're glad to see that this couple enjoyed their stay and golfing experience. It was disappointing to learn that they didn't like the food, as we strive to highlight Vermont's incredible selection of fresh and local products. However, these comments have prompted an ongoing discussion among the culinary team to try to address these concerns. As always, guest comments provide...

Just a quick note re: Golf at BH. Fairly long but flat course....front nine can be played in about 2 hrs. or less......back nine a bit more challenging. Wide, well maintained fairways and nice greens. Course is walkable although some of the tee areas are spread out. My wife and I have played here several times and always enjoy the...

Did you know that the Basin Harbor golf course was once farm fields which provided the feed for the resort's farm animals? As the reviewer noted, it's fairly flat and certainly provides a challenge on windy days! Thank you for your recommendation - come see us again soon. Sincerely, Pennie Beach Fourth Generation Host

For the 4th year in a row, we enjoyed spending a few days relaxing at Basin Harbor. Situated along the southeastern shore of Lake Champlain, this wonderful old resort has activities for everyone from golf, tennis, croquet, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, to just sitting quietly under a tree. In fact we never want to leave when the time comes but...

Every time we drive onto the property we are at peace. Accommodations in cabins and lodge are comfortable, quiet, and homelike. Don't miss the television, and wifi allowed connections with absent family members. Golf course is in good shape despite the heavy storms of the last few weeks. Breakfast buffet was sumptuous and fresh -- I don't usually try scrambled...

We're so glad to know that this returning guest enjoyed his visit. We are not glad to know that he wasn't happy with the Red Mill menu this year (it changes seasonally), and will be working hard to make sure it meets his expectations next time. We travelled to Vermont from York, England and stepped into this wonderful, peaceful and elegant resort.
