We found Ruthcliffe Lodge at the start of a road trip and liked it so much we booked two nights on our return journey. The rooms are comfortable, clean, and nicely but simply decorated. The building they're in reminds me of a small, wooden, 1950's motel. Each room has a small porch with a wonderful view of Lake Champlain. The... More

We look forward to our annual VT summer trip, and for us, there's only one place to stay - Ruthcliffe Lodge. Their bucolic property sits right on Lake Champlain, with views of the lake at your doorstep, but they also have additional space off the lake called Meadow House, that sits, appropriately, in the most beautiful, tranquil meadow, approx 150... Once again a wonderful time at Ruthcliffe Lodge! Mark and Kathy consistently provide exquisite dining overlooking the best view of Lake Champlain. Kudos for keeping the islands real with natural beauty and tranquility. Note to "Sad" Yes, you are sad. Those that feel a 15% included tip for dinner should eat drive thru as 20% is always customary! I give... More

My family and I have dined at Ruthcliffe for years and can't say enough wonderful words about the family, staff, food and place. A great selection of entree choices, all of them delicious! And the setting is breathtaking. The comment below about the 15% gratuity is odd. It is not uncommon at all for restaurants to include the tip in... More

We are locals and try to support local business....When a restaurant has to add the gratuity to every meal it should tell you something. I could elaborate further...all I can say is we were disappointed, unfortunately there is not allot of choices in our area..... PS. I've eaten fine dining in Montreal and New York City for less.....and left a... More

It's a bit out of the way but definately worth your time to get to meet Cathy & Mark & their family. When I first drove there I thought I was on the wrong road or else I had missed it somehow! But it's there all right! At the very END OF THE ROAD! LOL! Mark cooks everything fresh. Three... More

We purposely traveled over an hour off our route to our final vacation destination to stay here. All we were looking for was a place to sleep and a good meal. The food was excellent; Kathy and Mark were delightful; and the quiet and lovely scenery we've come to expect from staying at locales in the Champlain Islands didn't disappoint.... More

We stayed here for two nights and enjoyed it! The rooms were clean and decorated country style. The views from the rooms are spectacular. The lake was a Refreshing chillbut we managed to go in but we're in Vermont, not South Florida. The food is delicious, the best that we had in Champlain. Mark is a talented chef!! Kathy makes... Incredible view across the Lake right from your front door. Just steps away from the best (only)restaurant on the island, the food was great whether it was a simple breakfast or a late dinner. The owners, Mark and Kathy, are so pleasant and accommodating. The grounds are well kept and the rooms, while small, are cozy and comfortable. We had... More
