My first Jane Austen weekend was simply perfect. The Inn is a grand and historical home, while also being completely comfortable. So much more character and ambiance than any hotel could ever hold. Suzanne keeps everything and everyone moving so smoothly along in comfort and friendliness. She will make you feel welcome and at ease from the moment you arrive....

Lovely large room with great views of the mountains. Whirlpool tub in our room, with an electric log effect fireplace. Nice quiet, calm atmosphere. Caring hostess, with every detail taken care of. The other guests where delightful to spend time with. I went along with my spouse as she is the Jane Austen fan. I learned about the book "Persuasion"....

Wanting something special to do as a milestone birthday present, we choose the dogsleding adventure. Leaving CT with no snow we were a little nervous but as we approached the snow covered driveway outside this gorgeous Inn we knew our winter adventure was on. As you step into the foyer the charm and elegance are so inviting. Suzanne the wonderful...

We were not fortunate enough to stay here but we did experience the wonderful English-style afternoon tea complete with delicious scones, pastries and finger-size sandwiches. This was our second visit here for the afternoon tea. If you're traveling in the Stowe area, Governor's House is only about a half hour drive away. Added advantage is that the Hyde Park Opera...

It was with much trepidation that we drove to the Governors House in Hyde Park in Vermont in June 2015. We had found it on the internet and it looked fabulous. Then when we saw the Governor’s Bedroom, that was it – we had to stay there. Still you don’t really know what you will be in for, till you...

Stayed two nights and really enjoyed our stay. Booked the French room and had a large room with spacious private bath. Suzanne was a very gracious host and did everything she could to make our stay enjoyable. Breakfasts were delicious. Stowe was only 15-20 minutes away. Hiked Mt Mansfield from Underhill State Park which was about 40 minutes away. Only...

A great experience! We booked late for Columbus Day weekend so had smallish room(Strawberry) with shared bathroom, but this was no problem (even bathrobes were provided). Whole house was comfortable, much period detail, and plenty of lounge space (+ amazing collection of books etc). Suzanne really thinks of everything - sherry in room, Ben and Jerry's at bedtime etc. As...

My family, including my husband, son, daughter-in-law and 7month old grandson, stayed at the Governor's House to celebrate my son's 30th birthday and to take in the beautiful fall foliage of Vermont. We couldn't have chosen a better place to stay. Suzanne, the owner and innkeeper, was gracious, accommodating, and fun! She has maintained the unique history of the place,...

This beautiful home and delightful host made for a wonderful stay. We felt very comfortable with Suzanne, who was extremely knowledgeable about all the places we were traveling. Breakfast was out of this world delicious, after a good night's sleep. Lovely, lovely, lovely!!

Tucked away in this little village is this historic mansion that was once the governor's home. This 1893 beauty is now a prominent B and B, operated by Susan. Purchased several years ago, she has now renovated this gem into a large B and B that also has the best high tea in the area. She also provides seasonal themed...
