My wife an I just stayed here for Valentines and enjoyed what the resort had to offer for the most part. We experienced the Culinary class (Spain) which we enjoyed. We partnered up with some folks from Albany and went to town cooking up a storm! Brandy did a great job along with her helper (can't remember her name) as...

We stayed this past weekend (had a Groupon) and had a wonderful time. The staff was friendly and helpful. We had dinner at both Amuse and the Tavern as well as the breakfast buffet at Amuse. The food was superb at both places. Used both the pool and outdoor hot tub one night. Very nice. Cons: The duct in the...

Dear kagus725, Thank you for choosing to stay with us. While it is unfortunate that you mentioned some "cons" during your stay, I am happy to hear these did not overshadow the otherwise enjoyable experience you had on your romantic getaway. The Essex attempts to have a bed and breakfast ambiance in what is essentially a small hotel. Some rooms are updated, though the furniture is old, not antique. The bathroom is modern. The food is delicious, aesthetically presented.. The full service spa is often booked, so reservations are critical. Location is good, depending on where you want to be.It has...

We stayed here for a weekend away from Boston. It's perfect, great location, very much appreciated the pool and spa amenities. We only had dinner once at the pub - so can't comment on this.
