I wasn't expecting much, usually stay at the big name hotels, but the property was very nice, the room we stayed in was updated, we liked the art on the walls from local artist selling their work. continental breakfast was great, no place to sit though? bring it back to your room and only on weekends??

While travelling to Maine we stopped for a night at the Harwood Hill Motel, what a nice stay we had. We splurged on the deluxe king room, #2, the room looked recently updated with a comfortable bed and nice bathroom. They offered a continental breakfast in the morning (Saturday & Sunday). Highly recommend this motel, beautiful views!

I say thoughtful because the interiors were tasteful and carefully appointed. I say refreshing because everything was clean and working, the bed was comfortable, the room coffee was good, the shower drained well, and nothing was broken. I say inspiring because from the original art in our room (which I considered buying) to the sculptures around the grounds we were... More

Beauty and affordability. Located on a hill overlooking the Bennington Battle Monument, this place is a find. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The grounds feature picnic tables, a play space for children and places to grill. The free breakfast was very nice as well.

If you think you're going to a typical 1960s old but clean motel, you'll be "wowed" by this place. The owners have a knack for keeping the charm but replacing a few important features. The beds were great, the room colors were vibrant and the intriguing local art gave a handcrafted touch. So many of these "family" motels are tired... More

We spent a Friday night here when we needed a place on short notice. The reviews were promising. This place is SO nice. We stayed in room #5. It has a lovely rug. Tonight we are in a king room. Still love this place.

Really nice motel, room was clean, comfortable and quite spacious. Bathroom was also very clean. Just on the outskirts of Bennington so would need a car to get to Main Street. Very friendly staff and nice quiet location. Would definitely stay here again.

While traveling we stopped here to take a break and the staff was so helpful and friendly. The room was so clean! It had a tv, free wifi, a place to sit outside, and candies on the nightstand. We had a lovely experience. The room was not only comfortable, but simply and artfully decorated. I'm super picky about bathrooms, so the newly renovated one here with a beautiful wooden sink vanity was a welcome sight. The kids had fun on the ample grounds and the staff were friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!

Cottages are great for family gatherings. Large lawn for recreation. Simply walk through the hedge and you have fun dining without getting in your car. Great, fresh continental breakfast on the weekends.

A boutique motel where the arts meet hospitality! The new Harwood Hill was launched in the Winter of 2015 by a foursome of lifelong friends with a love of the arts and a dream of creating a special place filled with both natural and crafted beauty. Our vision preserves the tradition of providing peaceful respite for travelers with the new concept of showcasing the works of local artists and artisans alongside our own collection and the work of our artist-in-residence. At the Harwood Hill, every room is a gallery. We have also forged connections with area museums, our renowned Bennington Potters, and a wide array of galleries and shops to provide opportunities for our guests to explore the local art scene (at a discount!). Relax in one of our swings or hammocks, gather at one of our popular bonfires under the stars, picnic by the grill, or stroll with your friends through the sculpture garden on our lovely grounds in the shadow of Mount Anthony. Or venture out to discover Southern Vermont's many charms and explore its history. Our convenient Historic Route 7A location provides easy access in any direction for antiquing, hiking, golfing, fishing, bicycling, river tubing, or just visiting family and friends. The area is home to many fine restaurants, and one of the best is right next door at The Publyk House, an easy stroll from your room.
