Very clean and newer room. Lots of room and a fridge and coffee maker in room was so nice! The owner was very attentive and we really enjoyed our stay. The continental breakfast was excellent! I would definitely stay here again! I loved the atmosphere!!!!

We have been staying here for a number of years and have been very satisfied with the amenities. The new owners have steadily improved the rooms, added artwork and now provide a continental breakfast on weekends. Where most of the area motels that are older, this includes Williamstown,MA continue to stay the same and not upgrade until necessary ,Harwood Hill has...

Thank you so much for noticing our efforts to improve our property, we really appreciate that! The Harwood Hill has a long and rich history (built in 1937) and definitely speaks to the classic era of the roadside motel, but our goal as the new owners has been to make that reflect in our exterior architecture while making the interior...

This is our second visit to the Hardwood and we prefer this hotel because they allow pets. We decided to stay in the Farm House Suite this time and it was very nice! The evenings were in the low 30s and it was warm without a chill in the air. The bath has a whirlpool and the kitchen has everything....

Dear David, Thank you so much for staying with us again we really appreciate your continued loyalty! So sorry that the stairs to the farmhouse were a problem, it is an 1850's farmhouse, hence the steepness, however, we do have non-slip treads installed and we are confident that they are safe. If someone who has mobility issues needs a more...

Vermont is beautiful this time of year. So is The Hardwood Hill! The staff were super nice. The room was extremely clean, roomy, and tastefully decorated with artwork from local artists. The continental breakfast was wonderful. Would be helpful to have a table to sit and eat. (Had to carry breakfast to our room.) There's also a fabulous restaurant right...

We stayed at the Harwood Hill motel in Bennington for one night as we travelled across Vermont. We found the place very clean & comfortable, the staff were most friendly & the breakfast was excellent. Would certainly recommend it. A most enjoyable & memorable place to stay.

My husband and I were planning a weekend away in Northern Vermont, but decided to be local tourists, so we chose the Harwood Hill. As an artist, I can truly appreciate the thoughtfulness of the decor and the grounds. While we were visiting, an artist in residence was working on site and was happy to share his paintings of the...

Nice room, good service at front desk, comfortable bed, easy parking right in front, next to a fine restaurant, easy to find motel, so all in all, a pretty good deal for the night. Recommended for fall foliage travelers.

We stayed in the cottages separate from the main building, which were nicely done out with old-style furniture, and comfortable enough. They have interesting art pieces to look at and the whole place has character and charm. There is a lovely reception area with information, art to look at/ buy and some free VT apples! Also, the views are lovely...

My family stayed here as base for foliage trips. Basic and clean with surprising view of the Monument from the side field. Good advice on where to travel. Our Visit to Bennington for an October wedding was rounded out by our stay at the Harwood Hill Motel. The staff was more than accommodating, the views - stunning, and the wedding was capped off with a bonfire! Continental breakfast was better than the generic hotels with local eggs and bagels.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A boutique motel where the arts meet hospitality! The new Harwood Hill was launched in the Winter of 2015 by a foursome of lifelong friends with a love of the arts and a dream of creating a special place filled with both natural and crafted beauty. Our vision preserves the tradition of providing peaceful respite for travelers with the new concept of showcasing the works of local artists and artisans alongside our own collection and the work of our artist-in-residence. At the Harwood Hill, every room is a gallery. We have also forged connections with area museums, our renowned Bennington Potters, and a wide array of galleries and shops to provide opportunities for our guests to explore the local art scene (at a discount!). Relax in one of our swings or hammocks, gather at one of our popular bonfires under the stars, picnic by the grill, or stroll with your friends through the sculpture garden on our lovely grounds in the shadow of Mount Anthony. Or venture out to discover Southern Vermont's many charms and explore its history. Our convenient Historic Route 7A location provides easy access in any direction for antiquing, hiking, golfing, fishing, bicycling, river tubing, or just visiting family and friends. The area is home to many fine restaurants, and one of the best is right next door at The Publyk House, an easy stroll from your room. Join us for a unique arts experience that highlights Vermont's unique blend of progress and tradition. We'd love to be your hosts! ... more   less
