Located about 8 miles north of Monticello, UT, on highway 191, the Running Iron Inn consists of three smallish rooms and two larger rooms with balconies situated on the second floor over a small sitting room with a TV and the Line Camp Steakhouse restaurant (see separate review), which share the first floor. We stayed in one of the larger...

This place gives you a wonderful taste of the old west in a setting of rustic western charm and cedar trees. The proprietor Bob welcomes you like an old friend and makes sure your stay is comfortable, peaceful and relaxing. His charm and the inn itself have a cowboy edginess to them that make you wish you had a horse...

We stopped the Runnin' Iron Inn to break our journey from Arches NP to Durango. After reading rave reviews, we were surprised and a little alarmed to find the Inn deserted when we arrived. We set up our tents round the back of the Inn and wondered what we were in for! We were, in fact, in for a wonderful...

We will stay again and send everyone we know for a fabulous dinner and a night in super clean and quiet room. The owner welcomed us like old friends. It was obvious he has many customers loyal to the restaurant and other motels were sending their guests to his place for dinner. Anyone willing to "unplug" for the night would...

We were on a quick trip to Idaho from Arizona, through Moab, and I am glad that we took the time to read TripAdvisor and stay at this inn. The other reviews tell most of the story, so I will just emphasize that the people are super, room and place clean as a whistle, and atmosphere terrific. We stayed in...

My wife, daughter and I recently stayed at this location. We arrived in time for dinner and spent the night. This place is a throwback, like something you would see on "Gunsmoke" or "The Big Valley" ... except cleaner. The kind of place where you walk in to eat, and then up the steps to your room. Other reviews have...

What an amazing place. A friend and I stayed there 4 years ago and I still think of it anytime I think about or I hear of someone going to the Canyonlands Area. The place feels like the real old west, far away from any hustle or noise, in a real old log cabin-style place. We stayed at the Inn,...

If you're visiting the Needles area of Canyonlands, the Running Iron Inn is, by far, the best place to stay. It isn't the right place for everyone though, as Bob, the owner, would agree, because it is such a unique experience. The pros: 1. It is the closest lodging to the Park (unless you camp in the park); it is...

OMG, words cannot express our revulsion when we saw the showers at the campground/RV park. A dilapidated trailer that had probably not been cleaned in 10 or 15 years. I am not exaggerating. There was a huge layer of mold growing in the single bathroom sink. The laminate floor had a thick layer of scum and mold coating the entire...

We stayed in the cabins, not the hotel. And while I expected the cabins might be rustic (read: not immaculately clean) I did not expect the number of spiders that inhabited the place. It is frustrating to arrive late at night wanting to just get my kids to bed and have to kill 20 + spiders before I could shake...
