We spent five nights in Bluff, Utah, exploring this remote corner of southern Utah. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. They have a super clean hot tub, which I appreciated after hiking all day. The breakfast is fine, mostly cereals and bread, English muffins, or bagels to toast, along with apples and bananas. Nothing fancy but perfectly adequate. The...

Arrived early but was able to get our room. Beds and pillows were very comfortable, room was clean and the breakfast was good and included real cups and dishes - not paper or styrofoam. We were getting ready for a float trip on the San Juan and Jim was able to re-freeze our water jugs for us. Their property includes...

From the moment we made the phone call for our reservation we knew this motel was going to be great. They were ultra friendly and able to accommodate our family of 6. It is always hard to find a large enough affordable room but we were able to make it work here. They helped us in every way to make...

We stumbled onto the Recapture Lodge about 15 years ago and have been returning annually ever since. We love hiking and exploring in the region--the Canyons of Cedar Mesa such as Grand Gulch, as well as Comb Ridge, Butler Wash, etc.--areas rich in natural beauty and architectural wonders. The staff, particularly owners Jim and Luann Hook, but also the others...

Jim and Luann are the best hosts. They can send you out on incredible adventures, all over the Bears Ears...don't go anywhere else but here. My wife and I just got back from a 5-day trip, and it was perfect. We spent time in Natural Bridges; up on Comb Ridge; down into Road Canyon, just off of Cigarette Road; and...

I can't remember when I first stayed here, but ever since then I plan trips so as to include an overnight or more at the Recapture. This time (early March) the trails between the motel and the San Juan had been expanded, making it easy to walk to the river. Perfect way to stretch your legs after a long drive....

Wonderful place to stay, friendly staff, and explicit advice where to find ancient rock art, like this...don't miss this little treasure! Clean rooms, maps and info about the area, nice local flavor! Near the Colorado River, too, Bluff has amazing rock formations, good restaurants, too.

I've stayed here four times for starting and finishing San Juan River trips. The last stay, after a late arrival coming off the river, was like arriving in heaven. The desert heat was extreme, but the room was perfect. Everything was closed for meals as I had expected. The convenience store next door had what I needed, cold milk and...

Travelling in Utah with friends on a 3 week hiking & sightseeing vacation . My husband & I had stayed at the Recapture Lodge in the Spring 2014 while on a lengthy road trip. Returning to Utah for us ment a return to this rustic, friendly, family run motel. We booked two rooms, once containing a kitchenette enabling us to...

My two brothers and I stayed in the double wide that Recapture owns near the hotel. It has 3 bedrooms and 2 baths and plenty of room. It is furnished with 70's style furniture. The place is a real time warp. However, it is comfortable and relatively inexpensive. The wifi is not fast...at all. It is very quiet, has a...
