Although we wanted to stay as near Big Bend as possible, reviews of El Dorado were a bit sketchy. But after spending 3 nights there, I gotta say, it was fine. Nothing is fancy, but our room (5) was good. It was spacious, shower was good, room stayed cool on some very hot days. Beds were not the best, but...

My fiance and I stayed here over a three-day period. The hotel was clean and the bed was fine. The shower was decent. The bar connected to the hotel was kind of awesome. They had great food and good service. We met Ritchie down there. He's great to talk to you about the local area if you can catch him....

I came here with very low expectations and therefore I was very surprised when El Dorado surpassed them all. Lets just go ahead and say that this is not the Ritz, it is not a luxury hotel, but that being said I greatly enjoyed it in its own right. It is an older establishment based on the simple vacation. The...

We stayed here for 2 nights. The room in itself is OK but VERY basic. No fridge, no coffeemaker, no hairdryer only 1 big and 1 small towel for 2 people. Besides there were plastic under the sheet which is very warm and unpleasant. The restaurant in the hotel has great mexican food but lousy coffee. Too expensive for what...

If I had to do this all over again I would stay at the Gage Hotel in Marathon and do day trips to BBNP from there. We booked a spring break trip last minute and ended up w very few options. We knew this would be rustic and basic. There was a clean room/bed/bathroom. We checked in at 9 pm...

This is a ghost town, full of tourists who prefer a simple vacation over a luxury hotel. We had expectations according to this and the El Dorado hotel delivered. Yes it is rustic, yes it reflects a more simple lifestyle, but it is clean and super close to the national park which is a huge plus. The only thing that...

The Eldorado Hotel is only about half an hour drive to Big Bend National Park, and only a few minutes drive to the Terlingua Ghost Town area. The rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable. The bed was comfortable. The buildings are old and rustic, but that adds to the charm. The walls are thin, so your sleep may depend upon...

Options to stay in Terlingua are somewhat limited, and certainly not too fancy, but you should know that no 3 star hotels exist there. Pulling up to the El Dorado left us a little apprehensive initially, because it does look a bit old - rustic is more appropriate. However, when we entered Room 105, not only did it smell fresh,...

Converted Tour Bus sitting next to a so-so hotel. Quaint and nostalgic? Yes... But dirty and filthy throughout and the musky and musty smell was overpowering. Horrible conditions not fit to be rented. Was there 2 nites and room was not housekept at all. Avoid when visiting the Terlingua area.
