Fantastic building, excellent spa especially the outdoor hot tub in the rain!, very good food and friendly staff. A real sense of history. Some sections were closed but this did very little to affect the overall experience.

Ok so COVID has put a lot of strain on businesses and I am fully aware of the problems they face ..... but I booked this spa day over the phone without any confirmation email or anything to show I’d booked / what to expect. The location went into tier 3 after the booking and I was contacted to say they wouldn’t be doing any food. No refund, no money off , just a transfer option. A whole day in a spa with no drink or food , no option to take your own either. We decided to go .... took our own lunch and ate in the car. The spa was clean and smart . The back massage was lovely (initially booked for 10.15 but moved because they hadn’t booked it in) . But the two jacuzzis (in and out) were tepid and the outdoor one (after it had been opened late) needed cleaning, there were also cigarette butts on the floor under the no smoking sign! There was a jug of water on top of the water machine- how that’s different to getting your own cup I don’t know. There were good and bad points to our visit but overall they need to get organised and keep on top of things. Shame

We have probably stayed here on 10 different occasions and even had our wedding here- and why, because it is perfect! The staff are outstanding, the food and drinks are the best there is and the rooms are beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Laying in the roll top bath watching the tv whilst drinking a glass of champagne is always lovely. The spa is our favourite, the pool, temperature, decor- everything about it is perfect. When we came last weekend we enjoyed relaxing in the orangery with a drink, the Christmas decorations are so beautiful. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and had a gorgeous bottle of Rioja, smoked salmon starter, steak was amazing, and the beautiful dessert. Breakfast in the morning is fabulous. We keep returning because we love it and we always come away feeling happy.

Me and my husband were celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary and his birthday, 2 friends came with us as we've all been before and love it! We all had 3 treatments each including the new lava shell massage with was amazing! We had an afternoon tea, and breakfast, lunch and dinner each day and all the food was amazing with a good selection. Snooker room is good extra fun and pool, heat rooms and jacuzzis are lovely. Our rooms were both suites and we loved the superking size beds and the roll top baths 🥰 A big thank you to all the staff of the hotel and spa you all worked so hard and were very friendly. We hope to be back very soon 🤞

Wow! When you arrive here along the drive the building is truly spectacular. that said the pre arrival experience was not that positive. I fully understand Covid restrictions and totally support them but this hotel seemed to send lots of messages pre arrival and most of them seemed to be negative. They take £100 pre arrival - why? they state 3pm check in and stick to this religiously which his likely to create a bottleneck at a time when you don't want people, queuing. they insisted on taking the full payment at check in - why? this resulted in 3 separate charges for one stay - never had this at any hotel before. Service was fairly sloppy in the bar area with staff not acknowledging our presence for 20 minutes in a fairly empty bar. Food reasonable but why serve a main course in a large dish that was a small recess, especially when the food needs cutting. The angle you attack the food with is wrong, the dish balance is not the same as a plate. Overall bill was incorrect as well and needed correcting. Covid restrictions were generally good, room very nice size and and clean, shower didn't drain properly and could easily overflow. The expectation on seeing the building and the fairly high cost does not match with the overall experience.
