I recently stayed at the Iberostar Jardin del Sol for six nights. My partner and I booked a Star Prestige penthouse suite and were very happy with the room, which comprises two levels. The first level includes the bedroom, bathroom, and sitting area, which faces the sea and has an outdoor patio. There is an internal staircase that leads to the second level, which is entirely outdoors and includes a two-person lounger bed, jacuzzi/whirlpool/hot tub, and a sea-facing deck with two individual loungers and two chairs. The second level gets sun most of the day and has fantastic views of the bay where Santa Ponsa is located. Star Prestige affords you access to three pools (I believe standard guests only have access to one pool, which is the largest), as well as a separate bar/restaurant and a pool-side bar adjacent to the infinity pool. You can access the sea via several ladders that lead from the rock shoreline to the sea; there is no sandy beach at the hotel. Pros: -Views from the hotel are outstanding. -We chose the all inclusive option and, generally, the food was very good. Many options no matter what dietary restrictions you may have, and the quality was high and food fresh. There is always a multitude of high quality fruit and vegetables, as well as a large variety of meat, pastas, breads, pizza, etc. For dinner each night there is a different theme area (seafood, tapas, Mediterranean, Italian, etc.), which provides some dining diversity along with the standard/nightly options. -As mentioned earlier, we really enjoyed our room and, overall, the facilities were high quality and well maintained. We particularly enjoyed the infinity pool. -Palma is approximately 20-25 minutes away by taxi, costing approximately 25-30 EUR each way. We had two days of rainy/cloudy weather and took the easy trip into Palma on both days. Cons: -Dinner dress code for men. Men are required to wear trousers, whereas women can wear whatever they want. It's 2021 and there is no way to justify this requirement as being anything other than sexist. It's an outdated policy that regards women as shiny objects that aren't held to the same expectations or standards as men. Also, I can imagine that in the July or August heat wearing trousers would be oppressively hot. -Some of the junior staff needs training. We routinely had our meals during the last seating, and some of the dining staff would very loudly and carelessly (dropping silverware all over the place) clean and re-set tables while we were still eating, which was loud and distracting. I understand the need to turn tables, but it would be preferable to do this after guests have stopped dining. Also, the staff would often yell to each other from across the room while cleaning. -It didn't bother us, but the surrounding area doesn't have much to offer. The main town of Santa Ponsa is approximately 20 minutes walking distance, with a multitude of low to mid range food and retail establishments along the way. I would suggest the hotel's all inclusive option so you can avoid the need to find other local dining options. Overall I would highly recommend the hotel, despite the few cons I listed above. Overall the staff was lovely, particularly some of the hostesses (Gemma and Marta), as well as some of the dining staff (Ricardo, Toni, and some names I have unfortunately forgotten). Thank you for a lovely holiday!

We came away for 1 week relaxation & the hotel did not disappoint..Efficient, friendly reception staff. A glass of cava on checkin. Spacious rooms. Great food. The staff are wonderful. The only thing is the access into the sea needs improvement. There is no beach & the ladders into the water are too steep for me. I have had knee surgery & found it hard to get down into the water, so gave up. . Such a shame. It really is the only reason I have given a 4star.

I have just returned from a fantastic holiday at the Jardin Del Sol Suites. The hotel staff could not do enough for you, and especially during the difficult Covid times. I would like to provide a special mention to Cyril at the hotel bar, he worked tirelessly during the day and the evening to ensure all guests felt fully catered for, he provided a special 1 on 1 service. Sandra and Fernando in the hotel restaurant welcomed us each night, and ensured we had a truly personal service. Other mentioned should go to Rafa and Ivan at the pool bar who came round all day ensuring all guests had a drink, saving you having to go up to the pool bar each time. We celebrated my father's Birthday during our stay, and Enrique the hotel manager ensured he celebrated in style providing us each with a glass of cava and providing a hand made cake. This was a truly special touch thank you! We also received a full bottle of cava in the room to celebrate. The hotel facilities are fantastic, having stayed 5 or 6 times, we have tried varying rooms. We persoanlly feel star prestige is not worth the extra cost and you are best staying in the main area of the hotel, unless you get a special offer on the star prestige area. We stayed half board and found both the breakfast buffet and dinner buffet catered for all needs, with dinner featuring various themes during our 11 night stay. We found the food was varied enough, to ensure you are not bored with the same thing each evening, which can be the case in other hotels. You can see small improvements each time in the hotel decor, modernising it after each stay. The only small negative I would say is the rooms are now getting a little tired and require renovation / modernisation. But I am sure this will come with time! Thank you again Iberostar Jardin Del Sol, for the fantastic stay! We look forward to returning some time shortly. The hotel was fully covid safe, with all staff wearing masks and hand sanitiser freely available throughout the hotel. The hotel/ tourism industry is doing all it can to survive at the moment, so please try and bare this in mind when reviewing / staying at hotels at this time.

Good points - good super king size bed, lovely buffet breakfast, great sea views, clean pool , efficient check in, nice staff, free use of SUP if wanted, comfortable sun beds, plentiful hot water, good maid service. Child free hotel.

Bad points - WiFi poor in pool area, only one bed side plug socket, strange bathroom open to the sitting area, battered coffee table in room, really tiny balcony, broken blind in bedroom, shower fittings spray faulty

Noisy daily pool side activities (5 times a day x 45 mins - 3hrs 45 mins of loud music every day) - exercise bikes in the pool with a boombox playing rap music, aqua aerobics with loud music and shouting & whistling instructors, yoga class with a big speaker held 12 feet from resting guests. Salsa class was also set up with the boombox in same area and a few guests complained and it was turned off but only because no one showed up for the class. Activities attended by a handful of people disturbing the majority who don’t want to participate. Dont mind others enjoying activities but the music is so loud you can’t snooze through it or even hear your own music through your own head phones.

Misleading images on travel agent booking page (EasyJetHolidays) ….beware as this might be the same on other sites - two of the three pools & bar with outdoor seats & lamps overlooking the sea in the photos are only available to Prestige Star customers. These facilities were one of the key reasons we booked ……. But we have only the main pool and one bar accessible to us. Nowhere on the booking page does it make this clear.

Paid £1200 for B&B …… feel a bit ripped off to be totally honest. For the quality of the room & facilities we have available to us we could have booked much cheaper elsewhere in the resort. There is also some noise from the suites below - people with their own speakers. P.s. if you’re not a smoker avoid the right hand side of the sun bed area by the SUPs as that is the designated smoker’s corner where people come to have a cigarette
