Some rooms were spacious and modern and so we're compact and tired. Some staff were happy to help and others looked like they didn't want to be there. Bring a pool towel as there are none available at the Hotel.
Breakfast was pretty poor and if you need the lift, good luck. A lift that holds 4-5 people serves the whole hotel.
All in all. A decent enough bolt hole for a weekend but definitely not a place where I'd consider for a full holiday.
Surrounding shops and amenities are pretty good, especially bars and restaurants but beware of the Supermarkets on the seafront as they tend to charge almost double than the local Michaelangelo supermarket, which can also be found on the seafront.
I would definitely return to Salou but not to this particular hotel.

We recently stayed at hotel planas for 3 nights.
Good location only a short walk to the beach and shops etc.
Arrived at 12pm and we were able to check in straight away which was good, easy enough process.
First impressions were clean and well maintained reception.
We were on the first floor on the corner by the street, the noise was awful at night and kept us awake.
Staff were mostly non friendly and never smiled or spoke apart from the chamber maids and Christine on reception the lady from Ireland who was very friendly and helpful.
The staff need a few lessons in customer service I feel.
Room was clean and spacious although sound proofing non existent.
Breakfast was very basic and very little selection.
The restaurant were amongst the most miserable of the lot, surly faces and no one came to you and spoke even to ask for room number etc.

Overall all reasonable stay but a few points to note:
No towels available to use by the pool so take your own.
There is a shower to use before you fly but no towels available so take one from your room.
Sunbed supply limited with a few parasols.
Ask for a room away from the corner next to the road as its very noisy until the early hours of the morning.
Expect a no frills hotel, I guess you get what you pay for.

Stayed end of June going into July for 8 nights with my girlfriend (aged 19+20), bed and breakfast. Check in was pretty fast and straight forward, at check in we were told that we had a room on the 4th floor at the front of the hotel (facing the sea) with three balconies (best room in my opinion, also we had no special requests besides a balcony with sea view before hand), we were very happy with the room as it had a fair amount of space, was clean and what we expected, it also had a mini fridge witch was a bonus and a good size safe, the bathroom was also clean, basic and a fair size too. The balconies were the best thing about the room that we were given as we had three and they were spacious and best of all the views were amazing. The maids cleaned the rooms each day, replacing towels, toiletries, making beds and emptying bins.

We had stayed bed and breakfast so ate early each morning at the hotel (breakfast was available between 8am and 10.15am), there was not much to choose from but enough to suit everyone with a few hot options, cereal, snacks and both cold and hot drinks on offer, overall the breakfast was ok.

The location of the hotel was brilliant as it was near lots of restaurants, bars, shops etc. and best of all it was literally across the road from the beach, all this is great if you don't mind the noise from the busy road out front from time to time (this never really bothered us too much, when all the balcony doors were closed it wasn't a problem at all). If you are looking to visit the main strip in Salou its easy enough to get to, its only approx a 20 min stroll down the one main path besides the beach or 4-5 mins away in a taxi which suited us as we wasn't looking to stay on or too near the strip but close enough to go when we wanted without fuss. A place to book excursions (such as trips to camp nou, barcelona city center, boat trips, zoo visits etc.) was only approx 7-8 mins down the main street and the Planas bus stop is just over the road from it so it was very convenient when being picked up/dropped off.
The train station was just a 5 min walk away too in another direction which is handy for going into barcelona (approx 1 hour and a half away on the train).

The outside area at the front of the hotel was a decent size and well kept with plenty of spaces to sit and have a drink from the bar. The pool area was gated and a card was needed for access which requires a 10euro deposit which you collect at the end of your stay. The pool area was kept really well, the pool itself was great, plenty of sun loungers around although at certain times throughout the day they were all taken but we never really had a problem with people reserving sunbeds with towels etc.

As for the staff of the hotel, they were friendly and helpful when needed although we did not require much help or assistance but we were made to feel comfortable, safe and happy during our stay.

Overall we were very happy with our stay and would recommend the hotel.

Great location.
Hotel is generally noisy can hear people in above rooms and corridors .
No friendly welcome from reception staff- at all , never spoke
No one ever spoke at breakfast which was always cold and uninviting.
I found the hotel had a strange aroma in the reception area not sure if it was a drainage issue .
We had a late flight home was no option to place our bags anywhere to pick up later .
We were on the first floor in a renovated room was spacious so ample room for a decent bed we had 2 single narrow hard beds . We were on the road side and was a bit noisy but expected due to location.
I felt like the staff were not bothered if we were there or not.
The most helpful person was an Irish lady who was able to give us some information about the airport bus .
Will go back to salou but not to that hotel

Just had a lovely 4 night stay at the Planas, we had a double room with sea view and breakfast included. The room had a balcony with 2 chairs provided, balcony is narrow but sufficient. We had a view of the sea and pool area. Rooms were plenty big enough for the two of us, equipped with hair dryer and small fridge. Lovely and clean, cleaners came daily did a brilliant job and left fresh towels everyday. Bed was quite hard but after all the sea air slept very well!!! There can be noise outside which is expected located on the road side. Room had tv (we never turned it on tbh) and air con was brill!!! The patio door are very old but we liked them added to the decor! All doors have a shutter too for extra security.

Breakfast was good, large variety to choose from with the food and drinks! Don’t expect a full English, they did have the Spanish equivalent available, we were happy with it all! Short walk to the marina, beach and lovely restaurants! The beach bars were brill, lovely friendly guys running it!

There’s a couple of cafe bars/restaurants directly opposite the hotel one called Panino and unsure of the name of the other a couple of buildings down, we found these not as friendly, seemed to cater for the locals and we found ourselves being served after locals even when we arrived before! Staff weren’t very welcoming, but was good to try, we just didn’t go again!

All staff at the Planas hotel were friendly and helpful, lovely well kept outdoor seating area and Planas restaurant next door!

Will definitely go again, perfect location out of the way of busier tourist areas! Walkable to all amenities.

We have just spent 7 nights here, arrived before check in time, room was ready. Great location, opposite the beach
clean hotel, towels changed daily and rooms cleaned.
All staff were helpful and friendly would stay again. Breakfast basic but we were happy with that.
It would be our hotel choice much better than some reviews state.
Thank you to all hotel Plants staff we loved it! Good to say it's a 3 star.

Whenever I book somewhere I do plenty of research, including reading reviews. Hotel Planas sounded like a fab hotel and the accompanying pictures looked great.
What a huge disappointment!
My friend and I were shown to what I can only describe as a box that contained 2 beds. There was one very small built-in 'wardrobe' which housed a small bedside table. There wasn'the enough for one lot of our clothes, never mind two. The air conditioning didn't work even after a young lad from reception came up to have a look.
We had no balcony, which I had requested months earlier, and the small windows overlooked the side of the next building. It was so depressing and we knew we couldn'the stay there.
After going and speaking to one of the receptionists to ask for an upgrade, we were told the 'hotel' was fully booked and although I spoke in a calm manner she was very sarcastic, which I found very rude.
After thinking about whether we could handle a week in our box, I rang a hotel I have stayed in before (Michaelangelo), booked a room, and within 2 hours of us booking into the Planas, we moved into our new hotel and had a wonderful time.

Second time staying at planas. Rooms have fridges now which is great and wall mounted tv's. The place is always clean and tidy. 10 Euro for the key card for the swimming pool gate which you get back when you check out. All rooms have WiFi. 24hr reception and all very friendly staff. Rooms could improve with a kettle even if you had to rent 1. Other than that it's a great place for a short break.

Dates of trip: 28.09 - 02.10.
Pros:
1. Dislocation: near the famous Salou dancing fountain, Villa Bonne, first sea line.
2. Clean towels and bed sheets (changed every day).
3. Beautiful sea view from the room at the fourth floor (414). I didn't ask for such a room specifically, but I was very glad and surprised of such a wonderful lucky occasion.
4. Very friendly staff.
5. P.S.: There was not a lot of variety for the breakfast, but it was ok and enough. All four days in Salou my breakfast was: tea, cruassan with butter and honey, omelette with bacon and toast with ham and cheese.
6. The bus station to PortAventura was almost in front of the hotel. (the trip by bus is around 20 mins).
7. You can rent a bike on the reception.
8. Good enough pool with sun loungers.

Well, they have a great balcony at least on 4th floor rooms but they are not single. To be honest I don't know exactly do they have balcony for the single rooms, don't want to lie to you.
