Lovely to look at, pools are lovely but this is not a 4*. The rooms are not big enough for a family of 4 and are in need of updating. The hotel is lovely but some of the rules and the way it's run really needs an overhaul. You get slots for breakfast and dinner that need to be booked in advanced and you are rushed off the table. There is also NO SHUTTLE to the parks or beach despite being promised this was still running by Jet2.

Felt need to leave review after reading some negative ones before travel made me nervous. Just got back from family holiday with 5 teenagers, not all mine I need to add lol. The rooms are a little dated but clean and beds comfortable. Rooms cleaned daily with fresh towels. The pool area is amazing with many pools choice from and water is shallow and warm , the beach pool is lovely with sand under the pool so very safe for kids not stubbing their toes... the food is OK but I'm not fan of buffet all week we went half board. You get choice to eat out with vouchers use at other restaurants which we did a few times. You get vouches from reception, get €19 per adult and €15 per child, so we only ended up paying small amount extra was worth it for variety eating other places. There's several restaurants choice from Chinese, Mediterranean and Mexican amongst others. The parks are.amazing, the theme park is quieter on eves if you thrill.seeker and like bigger roller coasters in day queues can be hour. Park open till 11pm so we used go around 9 get on more rides. Takes around 10 mins walk parks and around 12 mins to beach salou itself where loads more bars, restaurants, the beach is lovely. We did a trip.to Barcelona which only takes hour. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel if travelling with either small.children or teenagers. Lots see and do.

One star review is based on how much we paid to stay here and the poor experience we received from the hotel for the money paid (nearly c£375/night HB). Stayed for 4 nights as a family of 5 (kids aged 9, 11 & 13) in interconnecting rooms at the end of Aug22. We've previously stayed at the hotel for a week in Aug19 and had a good time. Sadly small changes have been made since we last visited which made this holiday a bit rubbish. When we visited in Aug19 we realised the queues at the theme park were crazy during the day but quite short on an evening especially for the water rides and smaller coasters which we mainly wanted to do. So on our Aug19 visit we quite often spent the day by the fabulous sand pool at the hotel and then went to the park in the evening - to do this we had a speedy tea in one of the on-site hotels at 7.30pm so we could do the water rides before they closed at 9pm, then stayed to do the non-water rides which closed later - it worked really well and meant we had lots of time relaxing by the pool during the day. Sadly since our last visit the hotels have introduced this crazy system where you now have to book a time slot on an app for meals (8am, 9am or 10am for breakfast and 7.30pm, 8.45pm or 10pm for tea). You also have to pay a small supplement to have meals in the on-site hotels now as their buffets are all classed as 'superior' - its only a couple of euros each but grated given all we wanted was a quick pizza/chips! Unfortunately to make matters worse doing a quick tea at 7.30pm is nolonger possible as of course everyone now has to arrive at the same time so there's a queue to get in and queues to get food! What REALLY annoyed me though and the main reason for giving one star is that on checking in, the only timeslot available for breakfast on 3 out of our 4 days was 8am! The parks don't open until 10.30am so I can see why it's the least popular slot. I rang guest services to explain that we wouldn't be getting to bed until midnight as we planned to visit the park that night to watch the fireworks so an 8am breakfast wasn't going to work - their reply was 8am was all that was available, there was no flexibility - I then had to go through the whole shambles of asking to speak to a manager who told me the same thing!! Not really how you expect to be treated when paying nearly £400/night!! In the end when pushed they said if I turned up to a later slot I'd still get in but would have to queue in a separate line which would be let in after the queue for those with the correct booking went in. Utter shambles of an answer which took a lot of pushing to get - why on earth are no slots held back for guests checking in that day! The system worked fine when we visited in Aug19 so there was really no need to change it - i think the hotel needs to take a step back and think about the guest experience rather than what works best for the restaurant - who wants to be rushing to meet exact times on holiday!! TIP - it's not ideal but you can go to whatever slot you like - if you go 10mins early you'll be at the front of the naughty line so will get in shortly after the start time or if you go 15mins late all queues will be gone but it'll obviously leave you less time to eat (breakfast is 40mins and tea 1 hour and they do enforce the end time). Rant over. Ultimately the hotel itself is fine, the beach pool is amazing. BUT its nolonger worth paying extra to stay here over another hotel in Salou - its a 10-15min walk from the theme park and you get no special treatment at the park as a hotel guest (guests don't get let into the park earlier like at Disney and they nolonger do deals for the hotel guests on the queue jumper passes (we never needed them previously but you used to pay for 1 day and it was valid for whole stay, now you only get 2 euro off the online pass price). Only book to stay here if you're happy with the total price after adding the cost of express passes - the high season pass which gives one ride on each of the 10 main attractions is 48euro pp and can be used over 2 days or the unlimited ride pass is 88euro pp valid for 1 day. Buying passes is the only way to enjoy the stay now if you want to go on any of the fast pass rides...bearing in mind the smaller roller coasters and water rides are all fast pass rides and queues for these are an hour plus during the day. Ferrariland is a separate fast pass which is 23euro pp after hotels 2euro discount and gets 1 ride on each of 5 main rides. TIP: for ferrariland if you only want to go on redforce go in at 4pm and you'll get on it twice before that park closes at 5pm (it'll still say 90min queue time on the display but by then is only about 30mins and goes down further towards close time as they don't do unlimited fast passes for the ferrariland rides so quieter late in the day) queues are crazy during the day so need to buy fastpass if want to do the 3D rides etc too. Other things that have gone downhill since our last visit - no landtrain to take you to the park anymore, pool towels nolonger complimentary, they now charge for luggage storage (4euro for a locker that holds one big & one cabin case - no mention of charging on website).

This was our third stay staying here so we knew what to expect re: check in pool etiquette etc. I emailed in advance asking to stay in one of our favourite blocks Aruba or Barbados and also for rooms next to each other as we were two adults and two teenagers. We arrived around 11am and both our rooms were ready at check in and also we were given our preferred block Barbados, bonus! We had downloaded the app beforehand so were able to book all our meal times in advance. Not once during breakfast or dinner did we feel rushed and if we felt like an earlier or later breakfast or dinner then we could change on the app with no issues. Over our 9 night stay we only ate dinner in the buffet restaurant three times as there are places to eat in the park or the Tapas restaurant in the hotel, we were disappointed the Pizza restaurant had closed though. To eat in the park just go to reception first thing and ask for vouchers, they are worth 21 euro per adult to spend in the restaurants in the park including drinks. The pool is lovely and very quiet during the day, there are no inflatables but that suits us as we like it quiet and peaceful but obviously with younger kids you might like more things going on. Only gripes, our rooms never seemed to be serviced until around 4 pm which is when we were coming back for a rest before getting ready to go out. Pool beds are awful and it wasn’t as clean as previous times. Also the land train has stopped which we have previously used and was a godsend after a long hot day in the park. Staff are fantastic, very friendly and hardworking. Definitely recommend for families but there is no entertainment for kids apart from a mini disco for 20 mins a night.

Last stayed at hotel caribe 2019 nothing much had changed apart from set meal times . Personally can’t fault this hotel caters very for all ages find that people are quick to point out any negatives and complain during our stay we never noticed anyone complaining about anything . We had read reviews about checking in around 3 pm so pre packed our swimwear so we could make the most of our first day which was nice and relaxing by the pool. Check in was good really and helpful all staff in restraurant were excellent too there was a good selection of foods to suit everyone . Pool areas were good life guards doing a great good making sure everyone stays safe! Caribe is a short walk to Portaventura and also a short walk into salou in all we were more then happy to be here again and thoroughly enjoyed our stay… must say we were a little apprehensive after reading all the negative reviews but please don’t be put off, the hotel rooms are kept nice and clean ( no kettle tho) the grounds are very well maintained . We as a family wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again 😊

We found the hotel to be very suitable for us as it was lovely quiet, very relaxing with lots of mature palm trees and great swimming pools. All the noisy attractions very nearby so there is something for everyone. Food was good too just the waiting time to come in to the restaurant and the fact that you had to finish eating within less than an hour was annoying. But even though we would come back. We would love if the other restaurant which was not included in the half board meal option started opening from lunch time so customers could buy nice lunch inside the resort instead of looking somewhere else most of the days. There is food at the pool bar but not much choice.

We are just going home from our visit to PortAventura hotel cribe. It’s been a nice break but I won’t come back here. To be honest this is not a 4* hotel it’s 3* at best. The negative points started at check in. We arrived early from and our room was not ready - fair enough. They told us the check in would not be ready till 3pm. So we asked if could drop our bags off in the luggage room. We were surprised to find out that it was €4 per case per locker. We had x3 cases so that was €12. If you didn’t put them in a locker the room was open and away from the reception so anyone could access your stuff. So carry stuff you will need in your hand baggage. We spent the afternoon waiting for our rooms. They said they would text us when ready. Well by 310 no text had arrived so I went to reception. They said room was still not ready so I had to wait - 5pm arrived and I was getting really annoyed. Room was ready but no text sent !! The room is basic !!! And you can’t swing a cat. X2. Single beds and a sofa bed. Bathroom with a bath with shower in bath. Tv all Spanish channel bar 1 childrens and 1 English To be fair housekeeping have been everyday. Small fridge in room. Sliding cupboards which are broken with metal hanging off them and don’t work. Pool is nice and haven’t had a problem getting a sunbed but not much shade or umbrellas. The pool toilets are a different matter. They are truly horrible. Both sets for each pool have at least 1 broken toilet with a black bag over it. The kids pool all are broken. The buffet breakfast and dinner is an interesting experience!! You have 40 mins to eat breakfast and 1 h for evening meal !!! If your not finished you are asked to leave. There is a line to get in and if you don’t book you are made to wait. So even if you book it’s 10 min wait so now you have only 30 mins to eat breakfast. It’s a crazy mad rush and does not feel relaxing at all. The food is limited and 15 mins before the end of the session they start closing the hot food down. No had sanitizer in restaurant either they have all ran out and have not been refilled even though I asked. And at PortAventura none either!! Covid is clearly not priority for them. Overall an ok holiday but will not be returning.

We returned yesterday and can honestly say it was gorgeous. We arrived just after 12pm and knew that the room may not be available until 3pm, so put our large cases in the looker room where it is 4 euros for a large locker but you could easily take them with you. We booked the deluxe San Juan room which I really recommend if you can. The room was huge and had a large bed and a double sofa bed, balcony, ambient fridge and massive bathroom. If you book this kind of room you get a separate breakfast room where you can have breakfast cooked to order each morning as well as cereals, yogurt, fruit, cheese, ham, toast etc. They also do little drinks and snacks in the evening cava, water etc although we never did this. It also has a small private pool for those staying in San Juan with parasols and recliners which was lovely in the heat as it was much more shaded. It has three main pools we only went to the beach themed one which was gorgeous. The lifeguards are not militant, you have to wear any glasses on a chain which we knew before going and ordered a pack of slide on water style ones from Amazon before going. You can't have inflatables or balls so that everyone can enjoy the pool with space and being hit but babies can use small inflatables etc. My daughter got a snorkel swim mask from Decathalon up the road and was allowed to use it and also spent many hours jumping in the pool from the side and this was fine. There was a pool bar where you can get drinks, snacks and ice cream and if you go full board you can use your lunch vouchers there. The restaurant was ok, we booked a 7.30 time slot for the week but only went twice, we found the queue not to be bad and got straight in pretty much the two times we went and didn't really have to queue for food. We instead swapped our booking for dine around vouchers and ate in Hotel Gold River one night and then in the park a la carte restaurants the others and just paid about 25 euros for the three of us to cover the difference which one the whole was drinks. The park is about a 10 minute walk and you can come and go as you please. We enjoyed the one day in Ferrrari land and didn't pay to go to the waterpark but will next time. The hotel was spotless and always saw people cleaning and maintaining so I'm unsure about some of the reviews below. The lift was being fixed when we arrived and was fine all the time we were there. Our rooms were cleaned everyday to a great standard, it was missed one day ( a lot of people seemed to be only staying 2 or 3 days as on the whole it was mainly Spanish and French in our block so there was a lot of turning around) but we rang reception and they were there in 5 minutes. Also if you call reception they ill send the gold buggy to come and bring your luggage to reception to leave.

As with all my reviews I am going to try and be impartial in my assessment. On arrival room was not available but this is normal on early arrivals as rooms rarely Ready until between 3pm and 5 pm so be prepared for this. This hotel is only 17 yrs old but little appears to have been upgraded in that time so Initially thought it was more than 30 yrs old be prepared to struggle with very outdated plug ins With no modern plugs for your phones or iPads or anything similar, All is not bad biggest draw to this complex is undoubtedly the sandy swimming pool A real boon for 5 to 12yr olds and adults and also the included base ticket prices for The main theme park and single visit tickets for water park and Ferrari park Though some of the other hotels close by seem to offer better value even though more expensive. The biggest downside mentioned over and over in reviews is the staggered breakfast and evening meals Something i,ve not seen since holidays in the 1960s and 70s introduced by butlins and pontin,s that really has no place in the more sophisticated holiday offerings of 2022 I believe it is by far the biggest reason they have such a low return rate with their guests and are fortunate to have a theme park on their doorstep otherwise they would struggle against their opposition Their was a shuttle to the theme parks but they have discontinued it and blamed covid though queueing up for meals is by far a greater threat re covid. The coffee shop downstairs is good plus though it doubles up as the only place to purchase alcoholic drinks other than the main restaurant for food and the one other restaurant that seemed to be open sometimes in my visit the Mediterranean restaurant. The food is acceptable in general though repeated almost the same daily so not to be considered adventurous, Entertainment practically nonexistent probably again due to theme park proximity The other quite disturbing situation that occured to me personally was that in our first week we were being bitten quite frequently while in our shalet sorry I mean room and we figured this might be because the sheets were not being changed as expected when room cleaned so to test this theory I made a small red ink mark on the bottom sheet and pillow case,on returning that evening I discovered that the pillowcases appeared to have been changed but my mark was still on the sheet!!

Pros - Nice hotel with pretty grounds, majority of the staff were very helpful, especially at reception. Rooms were cleaned every day but very dated, bathroom door did not stay shut or lock. Air Con was great. Access to theme park everyday of the stay was great! Only a 10-15 min walk to theme park and 20 mins to seafront. Cons - Only 1 pool bar out of the 3 were open during a very busy August. Lacking entertainment, not the hotel for you if that is important to you. However Salou has lots to offer outside of the hotel. Choice of food was very limited, average quality and repetitive. However there is the option for dine around, so you can book into another portaventura hotel restaurant or a la carte in the theme park. Price of drinks was average, €7 for 2 Cokes. Poolside toilets were dirty, no working light or toilet paper. There are a couple rules for in the pools - no inflatables (except swimming aids) and no sunglasses unless attached to a neck strap.
