When you run out of the very poor quality toilet paper you can buy toilet paper at the local supermarket and I strongly suggest you do - or take a loo roll with you.
Bed linen changes don't happen. They leave clean linen once a week and it's up to you to change the beds so if you stay longer than 7 nights it's very much up to you.
You will be unable to sleep due to noise from revelers returning after 11pm so don't expect to sleep well and the noise starts at 0600 hours when the local bins are emptied, unless you are disturbed by the people celebrating whatever who are staying at the Sirroco
This apartment block is very much for very much geared for a short stay for people who have very low expectations.
The apartment is clean and well equiped but the price should have warned me not to book.
Please note I wrote a much more positive review 2 weeks ago with one negative comment that is no longer visible although I don't know why.
Our expectations were exceeded! From our check-in (all apartments were ready for us to occupy on arrival, even though we were there hours before official check-in time), we were totally impressed with how absolutely spotless everywhere was. My apartment smelt clean & freshly bleached. The apartments were superbly equipped with everything you could possibly need, including cooking utensils, a kettle, a courtesy pack of washing up liquid, scourer & tea towel, a courtesy pack in the bathroom included shower gel, shampoo & tissues. There were also nice extra touches, such as a bottle of water & a pen. Between us we had three apartments, all with a sea view.
The shower supplied plentiful hot water & was powerful. The beds were comfortable.
The bar & pool area were clean & tidy, & the breakfasts freshly cooked & reasonably priced.
We attended the Baraoke in the bar one evening, and had a great time! The bar seems to be very popular with visitors & locals, & there was a good atmosphere. The bar prices were reasonable.
We found all the staff to be friendly & helpful.
Overall, for its location, just a few minutes from the beach, and price, I simply cannot recommend The Doramar enough! Maybe not for a romantic couples break, but, as we were, a group of friends, it was perfect!
Pool area was lovely and the breakfast in the bar was nice too! Cocktails good and friendly staff serving them! We would definitely stay at the doramar again and hoping to go again this year! We had a great stay!!
We requested a high floor and sea view and we got this which was room 506. On arriving into the room initial reaction was it seemed clean but dated with a few cracks in the ceiling and wonky chairs. Kitchen was very clean as was all utensils which we didn’t use though as we ate out. Bathroom had a musty smell to it at first although this went. Beds very small singles not much wardrobe space for 4 people. No balcony just a large sliding window. My husband and I slept in the living room which was a very small sofa bed with a bed that slide out underneath and moved everywhere when I got in! Sheets and bedding very clean but the disappointment was waking up with a lot of bites on our arms, now I’m not sure if this could be mosquitoes (but we didn’t leave the window open or the light on) so we used repellent and tablets and got on with our holiday. On the second morning woke with more bites (I’m not saying this is from the bed but only my husband and I got them not the children in the bed). In hindsight I should have mentioned this to reception but I kept the thought it wasn’t the bed and the climate.
As we only stayed 4 nights (3-7 April) we didn’t get more towels just what was provided but clean, we asked for extra toilet roll at reception which was given no issues but no room service.
Used the bar on one night (cash only) found karaoke on but a poor atmosphere but we didn’t eat here. Used the pool area one day, not so keen on the cushions for the sun beds they seemed unhygienic that other people obviously sweat on!
Overall it was a cheap break £140 pounds for 4 nights for 4 of us and it served its purpose so we can’t complain. Probably wouldn’t stay again to be honest would prefer something a bit nicer and modern.
I did email reception when I arrived home to advise maybe get the sofa bed looked at due to the number of bites we have and just a word of warning but they didn’t seem interested (yes should have spoken to them when I was there but hindsight’s a wonderful thing)
No balcony which wasn’t an issue for us as we were out a lot.
Reception staff were very pleasant no issue when we asked for more towels, Air con was included in the price.
The cafe/bar downstairs El dorador does a lovely breakfast with tea or coffee and toast for €5.50 .
You can hire beds for around the pool which includes a chunky cushion for €2.50 but go down early as there is limited space the bed is then yours for the day, great idea as it avoids bed hoggers.
Reception staff rang us a taxi to the airport €26 and we paid the hotel not the driver thought this was good as we knew exactly what we were being charged.
Over all yes the place is very dated but if your looking for somewhere in a great location to the beach, Marina, Bonanza square and you basically just want somewhere to get your head down then you can’t go wrong. If you want luxury it will not be for you !
The apartments are very basic but spotless and have everything you need for a self catering break. I stayed with my family of four. We had a bathroom, twin bed room and pull out sofa bed. It was all basic but you get what you pay for and we couldn’t complain about anything in the room. The pool is small and deep but had a lovely atmosphere and considering it’s October was still warm enough to swim in.
The food here was so reasonably priced and they do a lovely breakfast.
The location is central to everything the beach is just opposite and Marina full of restaurants is a short walk away.
If you are looking for a cheap get away then this is perfect. It is basic but has everything you need and the staff are so lovely. I would also say this is perfect for stag/hens/friends holidays.
I read reviews about it been loud but we stayed on floor 5 so didn’t hear a thing once in bed. The air con worked lovely too.
The only negative I can say is we arrived late and our pull out bed wasn’t made up so we had to make our bed when we got in. I’m not sure if this is always the case.
Apart from this I would recommend this for a cheap get away stay for hens, stags, lads/girls holidays or a cheap family break
"Parking is far from easy and only on the adjoining streets. Avoid 1st & 2nd floors as the noise from the basement entertainment is dreadful"Read full review
