Everything about this hotel is in place. I am not sure why they are listing only three stars, it is much better than any other four-star hotel I have stayed in. Simply, Illwald is a clean, quiet and organized hotel. The staff is very nice and polite, I really felt very welcomed.

Went to this restaurant for an anniversary dinner. Very traditional dining room with lovely decor. The service was attentive. The food is traditional Alsace cuisine - good quality and very generous servings. The wines were a little on the expensive side but the quality was good. A very enjoyable evening - would highly recommend it.

. Comfort, clean room . Great external swimming pool area. The best is that you can have a drink there, while resting. . Hotel team is very kind, but not that easy to be found. . They have 3 lovely dogs. . It is not in the city (it is in the road). For us, with a car, it was... More

Lovely quiet hotel but out of town. Beautiful, spotlessly clean, rooms with a outside pool set in a sun trap area. Lovely to sit by. Unfortunately, where the outside tables are by the restaurant is a very windy spot and we chose to go out elsewhere to eat. Seemed to accept dogs as there were a few there. Slept very... More

This was our fourth visit to this hotel, we stay there whenever we can get a room in order to break the journey between the UK and our house in Italy. It is our firm favourite in the area and I find it hard to understand why it is not a 4*. Beautifully appointed rooms, excellent beds and bed linen... More

Not our first visit. We stop off here on our way to and from Italy. No one need worry about the quality of the cuisine; the kitchen is firing on all cylinders, producing perfect examples of local dishes. The local wines, which you can order by the glass to accompany each course, are very well chosen. The hotel, a former... More

We stayed only one night for a family reunion in one of the neighbouring villages and therefore couldn't have supper or breakfast at the hotel. Upon arrival, don't expect anyone to be at the reception (we came at around 3PM). You ring the bell of the "Bureau" and the owner will appear, at first a bit gruffy but warming up... More

This will interest travelling dog owner. This hotel is announced for accepting pets. I booked a junior suite and announced my three little dogs. All together are smaller than one Labrador. I received first the confirmation and later a flat refusal for me and my companions. I suggest for every dog owner travelling in this area to look for an... More

This was the second stay at Auberge de l'Illwald. This little family hotel has been very well refurbished and partly newly built a few years ago in the local style and materials. The pool side is beautiful and calm. The rooms are charming with all comfort you expect. We stayed twice for dinner in their own restaurant which is also... More

Nice rooms, some quite small, but well done. Friendly people, family feeling (including the laziest dogs i ever saw), had a very very nice room. Service is good but a bit distant, on the other hand they really leave you alone if you like this. After dinner I wanted to retire and take the rest of the bottle, corked with me... More
