Visited with my wife for the last week in April. Arrived very stressed from work but left the hotel five days later with our batteries fully recharged and ready to go again. VERY Covid safe environment with truly amazing management and staff. The chef and his team knocked it out of the park every time with amazing quality food in good size portions every morning and evening. House keeping kept all of the lounge areas spotless and the log fires topped and I fell asleep more than once reading my book in front of the fire. The management team of David and Erica know their stuff and nothing is to much trouble. Mike, Violet and Freddy thanks for everything and the gin tasting advice. Colonsay Hotel and all the staff you are awesome and we will be back again soon to see you all soon as the service and value for money you provide are second to none.…
Wonderful hotel, wonderful restaurant, wonderful service. Friendly and attentive staff, and lovely food and a quiet relaxing stay. The hotel is a very short walk from the ferry terminal and the island itself is simply beautiful.
We stayed on Colonsay for 5 nights and visited the Hotel 3 times, twice to eat and once just for coffee. The bar staff were extremely friendly and helpful, it was great that it’s dog friendly and they made a lot of fuss over our young Irish Wolfhound, Murphy. Great food, my spicy chicken burger was delicious as was the cheese sandwich with the homemade pear chutney. Very nice and relaxing inside. Would definitely recommend.
First time in the hotel and very impressed with the whole place - lovely and characterful in a modern way inside.Bright and fresh, lots of windows and garden views. The bar area with the stove going on a cold day was perfect for lunch.Nice burger and excellent real chips for less than £10.Very good value for the quality.Pear and frangipane cake was warm and moist served with creme fraiche - very good indeed and that's from someone who is fussy about whether something is home made or not. Just a lovely place all round and only a 5 min stroll from the harbour, so perfect for lunch before an afternoon sailing.
I cannot recommend the Colonsay too highly . It was superb and is proof positive that a hotel can still give good service, have a good atmosphere and be a pleasure to stay at despite the restrictions currently hampering the hotel trade. The young man in the bar worked his socks off to please everyone. All the staff were friendly and welcoming . The bar is used by locals as it is the main place to go on the island so it has a lovely atmosphere. There are open fires, comfy sofas and plenty of space to sit and drink in the bar, before or after dinner, it not having been given over completely to diners as in many hotels. Breakfast and dinner were delicious and lobster was available. We will definitely be back
