The room is cosy. Had a great view of the plaza and the Tapas and breakfasts are really nice. The hotel is walking distance from the train station and it takes about 30minutes to get to Madrid Central. The price of the rooms are far if you will be staying for more than a night. We stayed for three nights. It’s slightly outside of the Centre of madrid through which could be a problem for others.
My daughter is studying at the university of Alcalá for a year and is staying at the residencia Lope de Vega who recommend this hotel to parents of students and it certainly didn’t disappoint. The room and all areas of the hotel were spotless the quaintness added to the charm and is in keeping with the surrounding area. From the minute we arrived the staff could not have been more helpful. My only slight issue was on my return home, we are planning a return trip as a surprise for my daughter over Easter next year so I e mailed the hotel directly to book rooms, however when after several days I did not receive and with my stay being during Easter I didn’t want to risk the hotel being fully booked so I booked through a booking website meaning I can’t take advantage of the discount the hotel offers to parents. …
This hotel takes you back in time. It is in perfect harmony with the square and the historic city of Alcala. Very friendly front desk, quick check-in and nice large room and bathroom (I had a superior room). The restaurant too is worth a visit.
I have stayed at the Hotel El Bedel two times before on previous visits to Alcala de Henares. The location is excellent being right off the Plaza Cervantes. Both prior trips were great so I was looking forward to our short overnight stay. When checking in, I asked for the instructions to make a local call. The front desk provided this, but when I got to the room the phone wasn't working. I had to go back down to the front desk which then had a small line to explain this. The front desk agents apologized and ended up letting me use their phone. The room itself was small and quite dim. Better lighting would be a huge improvement. We did have a nice view of the square and university at least. The bathroom was quite cramped too and my biggest complaint was the filthy hairdryer (the type attached to the wall) which was so dirty I had to go to bed without using it. Due to sleeping with damp hair, I didn't get a good night's rest. While the noise outside wasn't a bother, the crack under the door made every footstep that passed easily heard which also contributed to my lack of sleep. I'm not sure if we'll give this hotel another chance on our next visit which is unfortunate.…
Spent a lovely few days in Alcala de Henares, a timeless gem of a city untouched by commercialism and an influx of tourists. Birth place of Spain's greatest literary writer Miguel de Cervantes, every step you take in the area 'historico' is a homage to one of the greatest literary writers in history. Staying at the El Bedel hotel that is simply old Spain personified in a beautiful way, opposite the stunning and magnificent University of Alcala, one of the oldest university's in Spain. Hotel staff extremely polite and helpful. The hotel is central to the many restaurants, tapas bars and locally owned shops, all reasonably priced. Rooms are comfortable and clean, ours was a triple bed, spacious, overlooking one of the main streets with bars and restaurants, can be noisy, given the Spanish style of life, but as they say, when in Spain! All in all a lovely city to visit, a lovely hotel to stay at, make sure you do it for more than a day!…
