A typical family run hotel. Charming patio, nice terrace with view on two of the many churches. We upgraded to an ample room with kingsize bed and jacuzzi. Great breakfast. Very friendly and forthcoming staff. Large parking under the hotel. Recommended!
This is another hidden away little gem of a hotel. Located quite close to the town centre & within easy walking disatnce of the lovely ol Plaza Major (well worth a stroll around) it has a largh & secure underground car park, large & very comfortaable rooms, impeccably cleaned & with the prettiest & best equipped bathrooms we have ever seeen in any hotel in Spain, let alone one as reasonable as this.
From the warm welcome on our arrival to the spacious, well-appointed room and the breakfast, everything about Retro del Maestre was excellent. It is situated in a small but quiet backstreet close to the main church and only a couple of minute's walk from the Plaza Major. There is an underground garage - very handy in a town centre location. Whenever we have stayed at Almagro before, we have chosen the Parador - no more! An excellent hotel in a great location.
The Retiro del Maestre is a good, family run hotel in Almagro. It has comfortable rooms and offers a good breakfast. It has it's own secure garage parking for your car and is an easy walk to the town square, where there are many restaurants.
The Retiro del Maestre in Almagro is a very good hotel in this interesting town. It is ideally placed to visit the towns landmarks. The staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms pleasant and comfortable. The hotel has a garage to keep your car safe.
Almagro is a pleasant little town to visit for a couple of nights, and I cannot think of a nicer place to stay here than Retiro del Maestre. Tucked away on a quiet side road, but very easy access from the little town ring road and a short stroll to the Plaza Mayor, the hotel is in a great location. It has a free underground garage adjacent, always helpful., although you could easily park on the road. Inside, there is a large, shaded inner courtyard, with plants and a water feature, where you can relax with(or without) a drink, a bar, and lots of quirky little objets de art around, like an old Singer sewing machine, old record player, and some nice photos. Rooms are on the first floor, spacious, clean, good size en suite, large bed. Breakfast is a help yourself buffet on the second floor, with all kinds of cheese, hams, fruit, yoghurts, cereal, breads and cakes. The staff were pleasant and polite. Almagro itself is a sweet little place, with an attractive Plaza Mayor, a nice church, San Augustin, and the Corral du Comedias, the only remaining open theatre in Spain, from medieval times. Nearby, a good trip out is about 15 miles away to the 12th century castle Castillo de Calatrava La Nueva, near Aldea del Rey. Some decent eating options in and around the main square in Almagro, but the best we found was La Tabernilla, about 5 minutes walk away…
Almagro is a lovely little town well worth a visit when in the area. This hotel was really easy to find and in a great location to visit the town. The parking was excellent, underground and secure and free!!! It was also easy to access with decent spaces! The photos of this hotel don't do it justice as it really is beautiful with a gorgeous courtyard area and roof top terrace. The rooms are simple but clean and nicely appointed. Breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice. If I have a little niggle then the shower head needs replacing as do the towels. They were clean enough but quite old and a bit thin now. It wouldn't be enough to put me off staying there again though.
A three star hotel in the middle of Almagro near the famous placa mayor. Everything is renovated and looks very clean. Rooms not too big but everything is there. Bathroom with bath but with old thin towels. Private parking for your car which is very comfortable. Breakfastbuffet is on the second floor in a big room without any view because of the small high placed windows. Quality of breakfast is ok but nothing special. Many sweet cakes in plastic. Fresh food was ok. No variety in bread. Although I booked this hotel because of the good refences I would not go again. For me there was no atmosphere. Although they had a very small lounge and sitting area there was nothing to see or to do. I thing just for 1 night it is ok but I would prefer another hotel in Almagro.
Comfortable and cosy hotel , friendly staff, very helpful and good location to see town. Ah and the breakfast, excellent, gorgeous cheesecake, everything you need and helpful staff. Top marks all around
Very nice hotel, walking distance to all main churches restaurants cafés etc well appointed rooms, good bathrooms, even though AC was not as strong (took a while to cool down room which was hot on arrival) breakfast included, very good but no fresh orange juice (in Spain ??) or anything cooked or warm, room too warm.... But very nice for where it is and good for families
