Located about an hour from Tikal. Makes a great spot to relax and enjoy the surroundings on a small lake with crocodiles and every room faces the water. There are extensive grounds with walking paths and birds and animals on the property. There is not much nearby, but we found it to be a very comfortable and enjoyable place to...

I stayed 2 nights recently as part of a Caravan Tour. There are 4 units to a pod, with 2 upper and 2 lower. I had an upper unit with a shower, so-so A/C, lots of screened windows facing the marsh, a wee little deck, a fridge that worked well, two twin beds and a couple of chairs. The room...

I stayed at Villa Maya for two nights with Caravan tours. I really liked the surroundings. You could see and hear all kinds of wildlife. Our room overlooked the lagoon and was very peaceful. The staff were also very attentive.

I walked into the room and then the smell hit me. A musty smell. One bed at yellow stains on the pillows and the sheets. There were ants on the floor. The hotel is beside the river and the water is very dirty looking and it smells. When I used the shower the water filled up the shower floor and...

I loved the Villa Maya - stylish and relaxed and a joy to stay at. The rooms are well proportioned with views over the lake. Comfy beds, quiet A/C and large bathroom. We ate there one evening and the food is good quality. While not on the Flores isle, it's a 10 minute / $1 tuk-tuk ride into the city...

The Villa Maya is literally on the grounds of its own nature preserve, with hiking trails and abundant wildlife. The rooms are rustic, with iffy A/C, and the food is good but not great. So if you're looking for luxurious accommodations, this isn't the place for you. But if you don't need top-notch creature comforts and want to relax in...

Villa Maya is a hotel situated about 20 miles from Tikal. It consists of handsome four-unit bungalows with large, airy rooms and a small balconies. The surroundings are jungle and a lagoon with walking paths and lots of signs identifying the flora and fauna. We got a view (and an earful) of two howler monkeys within steps of our room....

Fun place to stay that is literally in the jungle. Beautiful surroundings with some resident macaws and deer. Through the night we heard the howler monkeys. The rooms are simple and charming. The dining area and pool are very nice. We had buffet for all meals. We enjoyed relaxing by the pool with drinks from the bar. Lots of paths...

Great location on the shore of a lake with nature trails around the property. Rooms are in 4 room buildings - basic but comfortable. Food is fresh and local - the fruit is great! At breakfast watch the feeding of the resident crocodile - impressive, and adds an exclamation to the no swimming signs. However there are nice pools and...

We enjoyed our two nights. On the pro side, the setting and wildlife are wonderful and included deer, countless birds, a croc and a gray fox. Make use of the nature trails and just stand and watch, it will come to you. The front desk people were great and the restaurant bar staff good. We enjoyed the pool area one...
