We stayed at The Jefferson Hotel for the first time during the Outlaws Car Show. We stayed at the Excelsior House on our last visit. Both great hotels and very similar inside. I prefer The Jefferson because of the upstairs balcony. We hung out up there watching the day go by and loved it. Coffee was self-serve in the hallway...

I last saw the Jefferson in the mid 70s when it had been closed for 20+ years. I had heard that it had been restored and was looking forward to staying there. It needs, not restoration again, but lots of help. The rooms are not all that clean in the corners and the carpets were stained. Our antique five light...

The Historic Jefferson Hotel is supposedly one of the most haunted hotels in East Texas. That being said, be prepared for some noise. I booked this hotel because we love visiting Jefferson. We were married in a bed and breakfast (Benefield House.....see my other reviews) and always enjoy going back to visit and celebrate our anniversary. Little did I know...

This was my 4th visit to the Historic Jefferson Hotel. We stayed in Room 1 which is located on the second floor at the front of the hotel facing the balcony. Check in went smoothly and the clerk was very nice. Room 1 is big and bright. The bathroom was little weird though. It is seperated into two rooms, one...

We really enjoyed our trip to Jefferson. The town and people are memorable. The hotel has so much history but I'm really suprised that they wouldn't at least keep it up. The carpets are pretty stained up and it did suck only getting a bathtub in the room. My husband had to take a spit bath the four days we...

It's been 7 years since our last stay and it was in need of some attention then....but now, just so very much is needed. The staff is very nice and accommodating. We were 1 of 2 rooms occupied. The ghost element is a fun "plus", however, our room AC was on the blink. We opened our room door and put...

Hotel is in desperate need of updating!! Starting with the carpet and including the a/c units, light fixtures , bathrooms - even the pillows are awful!! Towels are paper thin as is the toilet paper. Needs a LOT of TLC. could be really cute and quaint! No bugs - which is a great thing! And the staff is very friendly....

The town of Jefferson was everything I imagined from the pictures. From the antique stores, to the general store, hotels, and restaurants. Quiet, quaint, and wonderful getaway with that tad bit of excitement from the ghost stories and history. Our second night was at The Jefferson Hotel room 11. I love the charm of the hotel and how it has...

My husband and I stayed 1 night last night. Enjoyed our stay and I was woken up by a Victorian lady in the middle of the night. Great location, historic hotel and like stepping back in time! We would stay again. The downside is please, please, please, do something about the cleanliness. It's border line on whether it's really clean...

We came and stayed for a night in room 1 with my daughter and a friend for her birthday. The room was very nice and staff were also. The girls kept hearing the downstairs bell rung, but no one was there. Kind of spooky! We loved it, and will be back! We also kept hearing a cat inside and got...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
At a time when steamboats plied the Big Cypress River from New Orleans and true Southern gentility was the order of the day a stately structure, now known as the Jefferson Hotel, was built. Once used as a warehouse to store cotton, this lovely building changed hands numerous times. At the turn of the twentieth century it was transformed into a hotel and has served as a haven for weary travelers since that time. ... more   less
