You will enjoy your visit at the Excelsior House if you will take the time to read its history first....it makes it a little easier to accept the things that are just to be expected as part of an old, historic building. As a woman and a history major, I enjoyed it more than the rest of my family did...

Just what I was looking for in my 'blue highways' tour. Suggest you read the history of the hotel, been in constant operation since 1850. What's remarkable is restoration is a community effort. My room--the May Belle Hale room--was underwritten by her sister. My stay would have been perfect if I had internet. My fault, all I had to do was...

What a relaxing stay! We made online reservations with no problems. Check-in was a breeze. We stayed in the Lady Bird room. BEAUTIFUL!!!! I must say, the building is nearly 200 years old and its bones are still strong. Will stay here again! What a relaxing stay! We made online reservations with no problems. Check-in was a breeze. We stayed...

Me and my sister took a short trip to East Texas and stayed a Sunday and Monday night at the Excelsior House. This hotel as been in existence since 1850. We booked the U.S. Grant room which was very spacious and had two double beds. Keep in mind that the building is old and there is no elevator when packing...

You need to know going in it is an "old" hotel. Floors creak, window unit a/c, have to ask for a hair dryer, but the room is comfy and the people are great. Trains can be heard at night but I thought that was some of the things to enjoy. Walking distance to everything. Don't miss out on eating at...

This is our second trip to Jefferson, and our second stay at The Excelsior House. Looking forward to our third stay !! Grand old hotel with a rich history. Very friendly and accommodating staff. we go mid-week for $89.00 and it's well worth it. We stayed in room 103 this trip and will request it again next time. Someone complained...

So the floors are sloped and the upstair balcony is in serious despair, other than that, it was a treat to visit such an old hotel! The shower was hot and the a.c. worked well, linens were clean, a tree in the garden smelled like wet paint? So strange. Plantation breakfast was tasty, but meager. Check it out, it's like...

My husband and I had an overnight stay at the hotel. The night clerk was very friendly. Our room, Hayes room, was beautiful. Breakfast at the Excelsior was awesome: fruit, orange muffins, biscuits, eggs, ham and grits. The courtyard was a nice, relaxing retreat. I great place to relax and get away from it all.

My visit to Jefferson was entirely too short! I cannot wait to return for more excellent hospitality at the fabulous Excelsior House and to check out the antique shops, ghost tour and local history. I stayed in the beautiful and comfortable Torrans Room with its gorgeous sleigh bed. What fun it was to sit on the front porch and visit...

Wonderful plantation breakfast...special treat. Joined my brother to spend the day while he attended a seminar. The hotel is staffed by both hired employees and volunteers from The Garden Club. They were kind enough to allow me to get in the room as early as possible so I would have a place to be while he was in the meeting....
