The toilet wasn’t working when we checked into the room. the handyman came and fixed it but left a big mess on the floor which we had to clean up. We wanted to extend our stay but the receptionist at the front desk charged us extra saying we had a “left over balance”(was told she was on training after) when we had already talked to the manager the day before and had cleared all the payments. We were given a refund after much back and forth and decided to extend our stay in Galveston at another hotel. The service isn’t consistent. One day it’d be this really sweet manager who was going out of her way and made us feel welcome(why we had decided to extend our stay) and the next day it was a manager that could care less.
We came for a quick summer get away, and we had a really great time. This hotel is definitely at the quieter end of the seawall. The beach was a quick walk across the street where beach umbrellas could be rented for $30 for the day, or you could bring your own. The umbrellas were spaced a nice 30 feet apart, and the beach was never crowded. The view from the top floor was fantastic, probably one of the best hotels on the island for a view with a small balcony. The hotel had a nice big pool with a bar attached to it where you could get a drink and some snacks. The bar is currently open until 10 pm. The hotel restaurant is closed but they did offer a small room service menu. The room and bathrooms look like they have been recently redone. A couple of negatives, for some reason only 1 elevator is working, and after looking at past reviews, it seems this has been the case for some time. It wasn't really a problem for us, but it could be annoying if you are in a hurry. They do charge a $12 parking fee an top of your nightly rate. Ice machine was out on our floor, so had to go down 1 floor to get ice. We really enjoyed our stay and the staff checked on us several times via text to make sure everything was good. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.…
The hotel located on Galveston beachfront has great potential to be a 4.5 star . PROS : Very nice pool with swim up bar and poolside snack bar , lobby is clean with good restaurant area, great location. CONS: rooms need updating including new carpet and beds . Usually you can count on a Doubletree to be superior with attention to detail however this hotel does not meet those standards. The hotel does have the potential to meet Hilton standards.
Not impressed. I reserved 2 rooms close as possible as instructed on my booking instructions. I even told them I am willing to have same floor. They did even admit that they have available rooms but it is an upgrade?! What point did they accept my booking for that? I mean I have to add more just to have my request? I should have gone to other hotels who offer a better service with this price point! Also the water is yellow. Looks like pee but I would think it might be the city's? But with this kind of hotel I was expecting at least it would filter their own if water is this bad. It was disappointing.
I don’t recommend at all is very poor customer service plus don’t answer the phone or answer w very bad actitud o well I have to many choices to stay for the price I found something much better I don’t get the people work there they don’t like the job why work there
