It happened that we, a group of four, were recommended to stay at Breb as one of the highlight of a custom designed tour with Axa Travel. We'd booked the Casa Veche months in advance, but we were informed before our arrival that we had...More
What a magic experience and we were lucky enough to have snow while there . We stayed three nights. We had the one room cottage. The stairs going up to the bedroom were "different". Old style and steep. The cottage was 200 years old and...More
My partner Vasile and I spent four days at one of Penelope and Duncan’s traditional style 2 bedroomed house set in the grounds of their small holding in the ancient village of Breb. Penelope was a great host full of knowledge about the area and...More

As Morgane said, alternatively you can fly to Bucarest and there is a comfortable overnight train to Baia Mare, then catch a cab or ask the village hotel to organize a pick up, if you stay some days they can normally do it.

you will need a car to get to the village hotel. You can rent one, or hire a driver. I hired a driver so I could sit back and enjoy the beautiful scenery on the way. I would recommend the driver I used if you want to message me for more info. Breb and the village hotel are lovely. I only stayed for one night, make sure you stay longer. I traveled all around Romania for 11 days and breb was one of the highlights of this wonderful country. Besides flying into bucharest and connecting to cluj, you could also fly to Budapest and connect from there.
