We stayed at the Buck inn for 2 nights for my boyfriends birthday on the 18th November, the owners and all staff are extremely friendly and welcoming and the location is excellent (once we found it) we travelled up from Wigan so it was quite a treck but definitely worth it, beautiful views and scenery! The room was comfortable, clean... More

My wife and I decided to have a run out in the car to view the truly incredible colours and views of the inspiring country side here in North Yorkshire. On a previous occasion we had eaten in the restaurant of the Buck Inn and were impressed enough to go back again. Unlike the air temperature ( 4 Degrees Max... More

My wife and I recently spent a great weekend at the Buck Inn, Chop Gate. Situated in magnificent countryside, this family run pub offers excellent food and accommodation at a very reasonable price. There is a good choice of ales including several 'Prima' German beers. The staff are very helpful and friendly and 'mein host' Wolfgang cooks a great 'full... More

A German food serving pub in North Yorkshire, must be unique! Located on the Bilsdale road to Helmsley this is a traditional Yorkshire village pub re-inventing itself as a German eatery and doing a pretty good job of it too. Whilst there is also a selection of regular English pub dishes the German food is well worth a try. Good... More

Stayed overnight after a walk across the Yorkshire moors part of the cleveland way. The whole stay was made by the friendliness of the staff. Plenty of beers to choose from and an excellent evening menu. The breakfast was also excellent cooked fresh to order on the night before. Rooms were clean and tidy with tea and coffee making facilities.... More

Stayed here for one night in Oct'16, and it was a breath-of-fresh air. It is the 'benchmark' for all Pubs/Inns. 'ALL' the staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. You get proper drinks measures, I even spilt one of my drinks (not drunk!), and a new one appeared within minutes without charge. I had a steak on... More
