We stayed at Gaia for 7-days and it was pure heaven. From entering the lobby checking in with Mr. Nigel ( manager ) .
His staff awaited for us with fresh fruit drinks, and a big smile welcoming us to this beautiful place. Everyone on staff were on top of their A-game...making our

We stayed here when it was Five Sisters Lodge and wanted to come back. It has gone a bit more upscale now and we went beyond our usual budget to go but it was worth it. The waterfall swimming area is the main attraction. It is just so beautiful. We spent most of our stay down the

Wow! This is my only review from our Belize trip that I truly feel speechless.

Manuel picked us up from the San Ignacio airport and gave us a little bit of history as we drove through town and up to the river lodge. When we arrived, we had just left their sister resort, Matachi

This place is a slice of Belizean heaven. With only 16 couples to reach capacity it is a boutique resort. Being the very beginning of the season there were only 5 couples. We were treated like VIPs the whole time. Our bartender Derby was not only a great mixologist but funny and

This charming and serene resort is off the beaten path, but definitely worth it! From the moment you step out of the airport you are greeted by either Calbert or one of his crew, and made to feel welcomed. The ride from the airport is an adventure. While riding in one of the r

Do most people staying at Gaia go through the hotel for their tours? How big are the groups on average? Also- does Gaia offer transportation / taxi services if we want to check out San Ignacio town / market etc if we don’t rent a car?
Most of our visitors make use of our tour offers. Please contact us via the website to receive information on the tours offered, as well as on the group sizes. All tours except ATM can also be booked as private tours. Gaia Riverlodge is located about one hour's drive from San Ignacio Town, mainly in unpaved road. There is no shuttle service, but you can for example book a tour which would include a visit to the market on Saturdays when the market is lively and interesting.

Is it in a safe area? How is security?
Belize is a safe place to visit for tourists, and the area where Gaia is located is no exception. For additional security, trips to Caracol Maya site are usually done in a convoy and are often accompanied by local security personnel due to the remote location of the site. Like anywhere in the world, you should use common sense, though, don't flash large amounts of cash, do not pick up hitchhikers or go with strangers. After all, you would not do that at home either.

Hello, I am curious about attractions that are near by. How do guests travel to these attractions, how far are they, what are they, and about how much do they cost? I noticed there are package options on Gaia's website and want to know the price difference if we were to book on our own. Thank you!
please contact us via e-mail to the contact information posted at the website. We will be happy to assist you with more information.

I am curious to know if you offer a fully stocked bar? We enjoy wine with dinner and other mixed drinks that are not on the sweet and fruity side. Are we able to bring in our own wine to enjoy with dinner?
Gaia has a full service bar as well as a well-selected wine list. In general, it is not possible to bring your own drinks to public areas, but the lodge will accept if you bring a special bottle to be opened for a special occasion. Please note, though, that a corkage fee will apply

I don't really understand your cons list. If they asked you a lot about the garden, doesn't that SIMPLY mean that they're very proud of it and would like for you to see it?
"Each cabana is unique. Some have a view down to the falls."
"Be sure to get a room with a view of the waterfalls!"
"We stayed in "Cascade" and the direct view of the cascades was incredible."
"The "best" rooms overlook the river, but we were perfectly happy with one that did not."
"Travel from Belize City by ground vs flying to Maya Flats, FYI private airpot nearby."
