We really enjoyed our stay at Blancaneaux. This is a top rate property in a beautiful location with great service and enough activities to keep you busy if you want, and enough options for relaxation so you don't even need to leave the property. After a relatively long drive (2.5 hours from the airport with the last hour traveling on...

Where to begin. First, it is important to know we stayed there on our honeymoon and bought a honeymoon package (approx 4,000 for 3 nights with tours/some meals). We are picked up at the airport and took a 2 hour drive to the resort (this may have been the best part of the trip actually). Our driver, Theo was so...

Everything about Blancaneaux was excellent. Attentive service, beautiful surroundings, great accomodations and so many tours and activities to choose from! This not a place for those lookiing for the "Four Seasons" experience( no waterslides or kids club(hooray!)). It is a bit out of the way but frankly it the activities and tours that make this place so special. The remote...

The rooms, food, service and location are spectacular, well described in prior reviews. Given its remoteness, it is amazing how this level of luxury can be sustained. That said, it wil only be loved by people that are willing to accommodate a rough road (really, not all that bad, and its what keeps the place remote), an occasional bug, and...

Yes, this is a poor third world country. Yes, the lodge is in the middle on nowhere. But it is incredible. One of the best experiences we have had. We were met at the airport by a driver with fruit, cookies, and water and driven the 2.5 hours to the lodge. The last hour on a very rutted, pot hole...

We stayed here and at the Coppola Resort in Placentia. Both have beautiful landscaping and very attentive staff. We traveled with another couple and stayed at a two bedroom Villa at both destinations. At Blankenaux we stayed at the villa used by the Coppolas. While it was lovely architecturally, the advertised wi-fi was essentially non-existent. You would get a connection...

Thank you for visiting Blancaneaux Lodge and Turtle Inn. While we are thrilled our staff was a highlight of your trip, we're sorry to hear we fell short of delivering on expectations. We apologize for the issues with our wi-fi. Unfortunately, some of our equipment had been damaged during a recent storm and was under repair. It is now back...

Blancaneaux is the most amazing place we have stayed - and we have been to many wonderful places aroud the World. Rina at the reservations was very efficient and super helpful. Geraldo is the most informed of all guides and took us to Caracoal and to the barton Creek Caves. Get a Villa - 7 is where Mr. Coppola stays...

My wife and I stayed here for two nights. It was our second visit. The best feature is the staff. Although it had been two years, they remembered us! No turnover: it was all the same friendly people we remembered. My wife loves the horses and the stables best, while I like looking for birds along the stream that runs...

The staff at Blancaneaux spoiled us rotten and it will be hard to stay anywhere else after we were treated like such royalty there. There were many more staff than guests and they made you feel like part of the family. The location was beautiful, nestled in a pine forest but with tropical plantings to remind you that you were...

Our stay at Blancaneaux exceeded our expectations by far!! Loved it!! The sevice and staff was awesome. BUT, this was very different then any other vacation I have taken and had to adjust to the lack of some conviences. Be warned though. This is a 5 star resort at the top of the mountains. No need for a gym at...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In the early 1980s, Francis Ford Coppola visited Belize, immediately fell in love with the location, and purchased the abandoned Blancaneaux Lodge. For more than a decade the resort was used as a family retreat before Francis opened his tropical paradise to the public in 1993. Tucked away in a pocket of the Maya Mountains, Blancaneaux Lodge is a 20-room luxury resort where waterfalls tumble into turquoise pools above the jungle canopy. Its remote mountain setting makes it a perfect place to relax, rejuvenate and enjoy life’s simple pleasures. ... more   less
