Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The staff was awesome! The place was super clean and the breakfast was good. Great yard for the dogs. Quiet at night even with all the dogs there. The only downside was the pool is closed now. The area is not as busy as Gatlinburg but has several restaurants and shops.

Great firm beds with nice new bedspread but old crummy blanket underneath. Overwhelming fake clean scent greats you as you open the door. No exhaust fan in the bathroom. New furnishings. A/C worked great. Terrific relaxing view from our 2nd story rm 228 which is the last one in the back, on the left side as you look at the hotel from the road. A pair of rocking chairs for each room line the corridor. In June 2020 there was no room service, breakfast bar or pool due to COVID-19. The roughest towels ever, but plenty of them. Extra large mini refrigerator froze our ice packs overnight in that tiny freezer portion (yeah!). Sticky room chair arms, and hair in the bathtub were cleanliness hickups I found a little unnerving. The Timbers steak house is right across the street and had a 2-hour wait at 5:00 pm EDT on a Saturday night. We ate at Riverfront Restaurant twice: it has terrific waitresses and service but barely acceptable food quality (everything fried or out of a can except the green salad; they do serve frog legs though). New restaurant called the Pancake something had delicious pancakes that hit the spot; don't expect much more. And lastly, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park was restorative, lush upon lush, and not a piece of trash or downed tree limb in sight. Impeccable landscaping everywhere. Cades Cove was a traffic nightmare on a Saturday afternoon; Roaring Fork was too. By the way, there is all new pavement throughout the Park (as of June 2020). A real luxury to drive. Go in peace.

My daughter and I wanted to visit a quiet side of the Smokies, so we stayed here in Townsend for three days the week of June 22nd. Loved the room, it was clean with plenty of room to move around and the beds were great. With Covid going on, there is no morning breakfast nor are you able to use the pool, but you've got a nice swimming hole just a few minutes away at Townsend Rye, or there's a few different tubing places in town as well. Hotel staff will not enter your room during your stay to be prepared to put your trash out, linens, and just let the front desk know. Or Garfield, who is one of the hosts/guest services- if you happen to see him cleaning an empty room. All you have to do is ask, and they WILL take great care of you. Loved our stay here.

1.) Hundreds of dead bugs all over the bathroom counter and coffee maker.
2.) Old chunks of a previous customers food stuck to the floor by the tables and the table and chairs themselves were sticky and nasty.
3.) The breakfast boasted on this site and their personal site isn't actually available, though they still charge like it is and do not inform you of this until you have checked in. According to them it was for health and safety, even though they still offered a self-serve coffee and juice bar.
4.) Despite the rooms being unclean themselves, the gym was also closed during the stay due to "covid health and safety"
5.) The pool was closed earlier that week, even though it's a selling point on the site, and even though it was still in the 90s.
6.) When I asked to switch rooms, they simply said "we will come clean it" and just swept and mopped the area that had the most food chunks. Didn't even clean the table or the counter covered in bugs.
7.) A lot of the electrical fixtures didn't work. One outlet was fried. The main overhead light didn't work at all, not one of the wall fixtures.
8.) The door had a massive gap that let more bugs in along with outside sound and made cooling the room a feat.

From a rude welcome to start to leaving on empty stomachs, this was a terrible experience. There was bloody snot smeared on the wall by my bed, multiple large bugs we had to kill, thin blankets, and a dirty towel still left from the previous guests. To top it off, there was no breakfast in the morning except coffee & juice and all amenities were closed “due to covid” even though they clearly care very little about cleanliness due to the shape of the room & the front desk worker not wearing a mask. You’d be better of staying in a cabin or a tent than being out $150 a night for these conditions.

We left another hotel because of cleanliness (there were long hairs on the bath tub walls & room smelled musty) & did not receive type of room we booked. That hotel person said we would not be able to find accommodations in the area. Best Western was right down the road.
The man at Best Western was very helpful, checking us in early, allowing us to have breakfast, calming me when I could not find my drivers license right away. Friendly staff, clean rooms, good breakfast choices - we will definitely use this hotel again.

On first arrival everything seemed ok. It’s a budget hotel so I wasn’t expecting much. But then when I went in the bathroom and pulled a towel off the towel rack, two dead bugs fell out from inside the folded towel. Ok I thought, this is the countryside and the countryside has bugs so I’ll give them a pass on that.

Then the next morning I spilled a bottle of water on the floor so I got a fresh towel out of the bathroom to wipe it up. Much to my horror the towel came away black from all the dirt on the floor (see the photo). I didn’t think I had walked on that area with my shoes on so to double check I wiped the floor in the far corner of the room where no one would possible ever walk. I was in complete shock when the towel ended up even dirtier there. The entire floor was completely filthy! I spoke with my mother who was staying in another room and she told me that she had been walking around her room barefoot after her shower and the bottom of her feet ended up filthy as well.

I decided to inform the management so I took the dirty towel up to the front desk. There were no staff to be seen and no way to summon anyone either. I stood there for 5 minutes while I could see several members of staff walking around the back office area, occasionally looking my way but completely ignoring me. Finally one of them walked out into the lobby area and I was able to ask to see the manager. I proceeded to show the towel to the manager and explain that not only was the floor in my room filthy but so was the floor in my mothers room. At this point a random woman who I didn’t know that was also in the lobby spoke up and said that the floor in her room was also dirty. Instead of acknowledging the issue and apologising, the manager first asked “To what standard are you comparing our hotel room floors? Your floors at home?” I thought that was a rather odd question as I would actually expect a hotel room that I just checked in to to have cleaner floors than my own back home, and I told him “Actually I am comparing this to the level of cleanliness I would expect from a hotel establishment, especially during COVID times.” He then started making some weird excuse about how it was a public building and there are lots of people walking around. At this point I did admittedly raise my voice a bit (but in no way shouted) – really? There are hordes of people walking in the far corner of the private room I just checked into? Three people in three different rooms, including some random woman I don't even know are telling you that your floors are filthy and you're just going to keep standing there denying it? He then tried to deflect from his own incompetent managerial skills by calling me rude for raising my voice. At that point I realised the conversation was going nowhere so I walked out and left him with “be prepared for the reviews”. Well here it is, dear sir. Your establishment is filthy, you clearly are unfit to run a hotel, and customer service is clearly a concept that has completely passed you by. I just thank god I had only booked one night in this nightmare of an establishment.

My room had a very bad strong odor. The drain in the tub drained extremely slow unless you held down the lever. I informed the hotel and they did nothing to fix the problem. I rented 2 rooms and the other room shower had old shampoo and soap in it from the previous tenant. The floor felt very sticky!! It does not seem like the they clean it very well. The guy cleaning the rooms stopped us as we loading the car and actually asked us if we were going to leave a tip in the room for him. Because he asked, we did not leave a tip. As we pulled out of the parking lot, he stared at us and threw his hands up in the air disgusted. Not very professional to me.

I am a Gold member and stayed in a number of BW locations. BW provides value for the money but thats about it. Cades Cove Inn is no different.
+ves
Best scenic location with rocking chairs outside the room to enjoy. For people like me who want to stay away from the commotion filled, pricey getaways like gatlinburg.
best value for the location
The 2Queen beds i stayed was roomy and the beds were comfy.
There is an extra sink and mirror outside of the bathroom which we really liked as it saved time.
-ves
The check in process was horrible. Even though i made my reservation on BW website and gave my credit card details, they were not forwarded to the hotel staff onsite. To top that off the night duty staff onsite was a newbie. She or the system onsite could not charge my credit card and it put my reservation on hold after attempting multiple reservation charges. She couldnt figure out the issue and she was really going crazy handling a bunch of other issues with other guests that night. She finally called the supervisor and he walked her through the process. All this took one hour or more. They need to fix this system.
Its an Inn means a Motel style. I got a room on the second floor and so there is no lift. The stairs are outside and carrying my luggage up the stairs almost hurt my back bad.
the beds were not normal height and so the elevated beds were a discomfort for my kids and wife. Also the bed sheets under the comforter had some brown spots. I assume they were not cleaned well.
Even though the room was big the table in the room was so small barely four people can sit and eat on it.
The floor is tile. People like me used to carpet may feel uncomfortable.
The microwave in the room was functional but the time dial was broken. i had to use my own timer on cell phone.

All in all it did serve my purpose as my main goal was to beat the crowd to the cades cove loop in the national park early morning.

From check in to check out, the staff was extremely polite and helpful. The rooms were very clean and when we needed extra towels or pillows , they were immediately brought to us. The location is very convenient to other attractions and were near good restaurants. Just wish the "pandemic" guidelines were not in place, so we could have enjoyed the pool and the complimentary breakfast. We will most definately return someday.

The town is really spread out not like a center. The stretch is a few miles long. So it would depend on how much you like to walk. The hotel is pretty centrally located though.
