Townsend bills itself as the quiet entrance to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. The Dancing Bear Inn is well back from the highway, nestled up a hill. Lots of good tree cover, cabins and some trails. Large commercial centre and resto at the bottom of the hill, and an upscale resto up the hill. Free bike rentals! Excellent for... More

We stayed in a deluxe cabin with sofa. We arrived and the door was open and wine I had shipped was on the wetbar. The fireplace was ready and all we did was light a match and had a beautiful fire. The hotub was ready to go and every attention to detail was done. Overall, a very wonderful experience.

My husband and I are first-time visitors at Dancing Bear Lodge. We couldn't have been more satisfied with Laurel Falls and and Elkmont cabins. The hot tub, woodburning fireplace, plush bedding and peaceful setting all added up to a pleasant stay. The cafe was enjoyable as well - apple fritters, yum. We look forward to our next visit to Dancing... More

Stayed here recently during the fall. Was like a hotel stay only without noise of people coming and going, elevator, ice machine and children noises. Had the amenities of an upscale hotel. Stayed in a Deluxe cabin which was a glorified huge hotel room and CLEAN. Was very private. Took advantage of their 2 mile trail on site. Was a... More

We stayed a Villa for two nights and a single cabin for one night. The Villas were comfortable and cozy, modern rustic theme. Bed was comfortable. Kitchen was well equipped - we wanted to fix at least one meal there and we did several. The lighting in the bathroom was a little too dark to see well and the outside... More

My husband and I stayed in Elkmont Cabin. It was wonderful! The porch had a rocking chair and a swing for two. We enjoyed the wood burning fireplace even though the weather was not very cold. The food at the Bistro on the property was amazing. We also enjoyed the fire pit . This was our fourth visit. We will... More

The resort sits on a hill away from the street and is quiet. That is great for those of us that enjoy sitting on the porch and enjoy the breeze. We witnessed a bear passing by through the colors of the autumn colors. It is near Cades Cove which is my favorite place to visit in the Smoky Mountains. The... More

I can't express how thankful I am with the staff of Dancing Bear that help me organize and execute what turned out to be a memorable proposal, dinner, and overall experience! A week before the night I planned on proposing, I drove up to Dancing Bear to make reservations in person and explain to the staff what I was scheming.... More

Love! We've stayed at the Dancing Bear Lodge cabins twice now and both times were completely perfect! Most recently, we were on our honeymoon. We checked in, got to our cabin, and realized - oh no, we booked the wrong kind of cabin! We really, really wanted to have the private hot tub looking out to the woods. I called... More

Everything was ready, easy access (no check, check out), all that we needed for an outdoor experience and then relaxation. Great evening restaurant on site. Others within easy walking, biking or driving distance.
