Built in 1982 and is still owned and run by the people who built it. It’s easy to see that the guests are most important to them. Details like the well kept gardens, the clean and well maintained rooms where everything works make this a pleasant place. A benchmark for other like this.

Thank you for writing a review of the Highland Manor Inn. My husband and I and my staff have enjoyed the 39 years we have been operating the Inn since we built it in 1982. We have met a lot of great people. Thanks for noticing the great job the staff does. I will pass that along to them. I hope you can come back again.

We pulled in and got the last room in the motel. Great breakfast. Wonderful views from private balcony. Nice workers and family. Clean pool Great find close to Dollywood but many things to do or stop at on your way to pigeon forge.

Thank you for writing a review of the Highland Manor Inn. I am glad you were able to take our last room. Thank you for your comments. We like being close to the more commercialized towns near the Smokies National Park , but are glad we are in Townsend, "the peaceful side of the Smokies". Come back and see us again someday.

Dated but scrupulously clean room. Comfortable bed and good water pressure. Owner is heavily into disinfecting pens and so forth even though we now know the risk of surface transmission of COVID is minimal to nonexistent. Unfortunately, she can’t be bothered to do the one thing that would really protect her guests: wear a mask indoors. In light of her lack of care for others, we found her ostentatious religiosity (bible prominently placed in room, wifi password a biblical reference, guests invited to attend church with owner) fairly ironic.

Thank you for writing a review of your stay at the Highland Manor Inn. I am glad you noticed the clean rooms, comfortable beds and the good water pressure. My husband and I built the Inn in 1982 and have operated it very traditionally ever since. I do sanitize the pens and the surfaces that people touch when in my office. I have put up a glass shield to break up the air space between the arriving guests and my Front Desk Clerks for our protection as well as for our guests. One of my employees wears a mask because he chooses to do so. I do not require my staff to wear a mask It is their choice . I have had my vaccinations and practice social distancing. I take offense at your remark that I lack care for others. You really don't know what you are talking about when it comes to my behavior and my business operations. Also, you must not know the Lord Jesus Christ as your savior or you would understand that He has blessed us and made our life's work rewarding for us, our family, and our community. Operating the Inn in a Christian atmosphere gives the opportunity to share Jesus with others, however subtly or blatantly the presentation is given. Many guests have been blessed by being at the Highland Manor Inn and going to church with us. I feel bad for you to think the way you do about me, but for me, I don't feel bad for living my life as a Christian and sharing Jesus and His Word with others who come to stay at my Inn. There is nothing ironic about me or my Inn, just a real love for serving others in the way Jesus has provided for me to do so. I live my life for Him. I am not perfect, no man is, but we try our best. If you ever travel to the Smokies again, you are welcome to come stay with us again.

Most of our group stayed at the Best Western .5 mile away. All they did was complain about how horrible their experience was! The Highland Manor for my needs was absolutely fine. Bed was fine, décor was tasteful. Plenty of hot water , also in the bathroom was a heat lamp, love heat lamps when you get out of the shower. They don't serve breakfast until 8am , however, they will give you a coffee maker & bag of coffee for those of us that have to get into the Smoky Mtns very early! There is a pancake house directly across the street. The room also has a very nice balcony.

This is actually an amended review to one I posted earlier. It’s been a week and I’m still waiting for management to call me or respond to the note I left them upon checkout. My husband and I are well traveled and are aware of the value of accommodations taking into consideration location, season, day of week etc. we don’t mind paying for quality and are quick to write glowing reviews of accommodations that are deserving. However we had a horrible experience at Highland Manor. We arrived later in the evening after a long day of travel. I saw and heard a large white machine in the room but assumed it was a portable air conditioner. We dropped our bags and went to dinner. When we returned around 10 I saw that the object was a running dehumidifier, the room reeked of mildew and that the wall paper was torn and bathtub stained. At this point the office was closed and there was a “no vacancy” sign posted so we didn’t attempt to change rooms. First thing that morning I complained to the front desk clerk who basically insulted me for being from New York! She said that since I’m from New York I didn’t understand that the mountain area can be humid. And then she went further to say that maybe I am particularly sensitive to mildew. I left a note for the owner to call me. I’m still waiting. I see some of her other responses on this site boasting about it being a family run business since the eighties. Maybe they should have invested some of those profits into this room! Maybe there are other rooms that are nicer on the property. I don’t know. Certainly I would not be so upset if the clerk had been sympathetic or if the owner had reach out to me. I have pictures which I will try to post

Thank you for writing a review of your visit to the Highland Manor Inn. I am sorry that you were not happy with your accommodations. We keep a dehumidifier in our terrace level rooms since the back area of the room is actually underground. The way we built the Inn, cutting into the hillside affords the upstairs balcony rooms to be ground floor and no stairs are needed to enter the second floor rooms. The dehumidifiers take care of any extra moisture in the room. I checked the room after you left and did not find the condition that you described, with exception of the torn wallpaper, and rest assured, that will be tended to. Yes, our Inn is older, and we have been here a long time providing lodging to folks who visit Townsend and the Smoky Mountains.
