My wife and I were guest for two days in late October at the Mountain Harbor Bed and Breakfast while photographing the beautiful fall foliage and spectacular mountains in the area. The hosts were friendly and helpful. Even though we did not care for the room decor, the room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Everything we needed...

My wife and I tented here before having breakfast and getting shuttled to Carver's Gap for a weekend hike. The breakfast made me wish I was a thru-hiker. Equipped with only my normal morning appetite, I couldn't possibly do it justice! Earplugs recommended for camping since the sites are not far from a busy state hwy.

Great, comfortable, clean place to stay. Such a nice respite from hiking. David's breakfast is 5 star and worth going out of your way for. We stayed one night in the B&B, but the hostel also looked clean and cozy. They provide shuttles for hikers and great local knowledge. You couldn't ask for a better place to stay-- on or...

I stayed here with my son while we hiked a section of the AT and prior to the race at Bristol. The owners provided transport to the Carvers Gap trailhead and we hiked back. Great location near the AT. Clean, comfortable and excellent hosts. The other reviews about breakfast are not an exaggeration - it was outstanding. The B&B is...

Several of us came from Indiana and found the hostel to be fantastic. Everything was clean, and kept very nice. After our hike on the AT (3 days), I stayed in the B&B and found it to be the best! Breakfast is a must, here. The food was wonderful and the owners (and family) were excellent hosts. This was an...

My husband and I stayed in the lovely Jefferson Room after hiking Mount Mitchell during the day. What a lovely room in which to take a shower and unwind. The bed could not have been more comfortable, and the assortment of books on the shelves were awesome. The room was so spacious we could spread out our things in order...

The owners of this place do not realize they do not own a $500 a night bed and breakfast. Instead, they fill their home with hikers and outdoor adventurers and treat them all like they are paying $500. If they are not careful, word will get out and their place will turn fancy when people realize how good it is....

I stayed in the hostel, a converted barn loft. It is the cleanest and best maintained hostel I have stayed in. I occupied a semi-private room with easy access to one of two bathrooms, both of which were very clean. There is a well stocked General Store below with grocery, beverage, and snack items popular with most hikers. The freshly...

I stayed here two days and was in heaven. The owners are very accommodating and go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as they can. The B&B is located conveniently to the Appalachian trail and offers some of the best hiking in the state. The property is VERY CLEAN and the grounds are stunning with a...
