Great little place. You can tell the age of this great little hotel. The beams & the decor made for a good atmosphere. The room was good with what you would need. tea & coffee making facilities etc. Good sized bathroom with bath & shower options. The bed was clean & comfortable The bare was bright & airy with voices...

We booked a double room with breakfast. On entering to a haze of smoke, problems with open fire! we were promptly checked in and offered a jug of fresh milk for beverages. There was a cafetière, range of teas and delicious flapjack. The room was pleasant, huge comfy bed. No tv remote, but not the end of the world. We...

Popped in for a few drinks and dinner. Being a pie man I'm always suspicious of pies on a menu ie a stew in a bowl with a pastry lid on, which in my northern mind is not a pie!! This homemade lamb pie was rammed with lamb and loverlyyyyy! Next time I'm in, I will try the pheasant pie.......it's...

Needing somewhere to stay just for two nights we read the reviews and went for it. Looked like just an ordinary pub in the middle of nowhere till you went inside. Huge inglenook fire crackling away. Complete olde worlde feel abound and staff that bent over backwards to please you. Ok, so the bedrooms were small but the bed I...

I had an enjoyable stay in a friendly country inn. The room was small but comfortable & well appointed. The stairs could have been a problem for someone less agile so it would be best to ask for a downstairs room if guests have any mobility issues. The check in was a little problematic as I arrived early before the...

We visited here for Sunday lunch today. Staff were welcoming. We had two young children with us and there was a children's menu too. We had roasts which were delicious. You can also ask for small portion roasts for the children. Not only was the food delicious but it was also very nicely presented. We will return.

I really enjoyed the Inn's room and location. The setting was ideal- accessible to the local sights (Highclere Castle aka Downton Abbey, near Blenheim and Stonehenge) but still not on the main track so you weren't crowded by milling tourists. It felt quaint, but still updated enough to provide comfort to guests. I would definitely lodge here again. However, I...

On arrival first impressions are a bit mixed. When you do eventually find the entrance and enter the delightful main bar, the staff are very welcoming. Superb and different menu choices are on offer and all in all, the food was everything you expect from a top rated Gastro Pub.

We were friends going to Carfest South & chose this hotel/pub as our base. You need a car to get around here or taxis, which were reasonable. First impressions were good. Nice location, old look to the pub. However, on closer inspection it was a bit tired & the welcome wasn't as good as it should be. The room is...
