On a wet day we arrived at the hotel for our noon booking, it was 11:55am and raining and windy but the staff inside wouldn't unlock the door. We waited, they saw us, they had music up really loudly but wouldn't open the door until exactly 12pm. We were one of the first to order and what a mess: first...

Friendly welcome. Rooms are upstairs (with no lift) via a lovely old staircase. The whole hotel is steeped in history. Communal TV and breakfast room with shared but separate ladies and gents showers and toilets which are very clean. Rooms 8-12 would be the quietest. Clean rooms, firm clean beds and the restaurant attached has great food. Would stay here...

Last week I enjoyed lunch at the Commercial Hotel in Camperdown, Victoria. The service was great but the food was magnificent and abundant. But the best bit was the price - only $15 for the main course. I would recommend this place for everyone to eat at. David in Ballarat

Old style country pub, heaps of charm. Service was fantastic, nothing was to much trouble. Rooms are upstairs, clean and fresh and each bed has an electric blanket, there is a TV room on the upstairs level that also has tea and coffee making facilities and a heater. Mens and womens toilets and showers are communal, clean, tidy and the...

Do not expect a late or normal lunch for a country pub at this establishment even if if you are travelling on the eve of a long weekend. A "sorry love everything is turned off " at 1;35 pm !! Appears to have lost its way and only interested in catering to locals who obviously eat early !.

In Camperdown for the Cruise and this is one of the best country pubs we have seen anywhere. Numerous eating spots, bars, pokies, and lounges, all with some good, friendly staff. We didn't stay here so can't comment on the rooms which I assume would be fairly basic.

I regularly pass through Camperdown and always make sure to stop at this great local pub which always serves up a great meal particularly the steak. The staff are friendly and the owners are always welcoming. Highly recommend this pub for a drink also, great outdoor area.

We didn't stay at the Commercial, we only ate. The interior was atmospheric with the old balcony inside still intact from the original building. The biggest disappointed was waiting 70 mins for our meal. I understand if there were more than 30 people but I counted only 18 people. Not coming back because of the waiting time.
