We recently stayed 2 nights at the Manly Lodge, and like any place you can find fault. However in general it was ideal location, great size room (suite 30) for our family of 5. Yes, there is no parking. That didn't effect us, however I have read reviews prior and after staying, and if you did your homework before booking...

This Hotel calls itself a boutique hotel. What a joke. We paid $225.00 a night. We knew it wasn't going to be great when we arrived to a reception that was behind locked shutters. This was in the day. Very unwelcoming. The room was extremely basic although the bathroom had been renovated and did have a very nice shower. The room...

We stayed in June for a few nights of sightseeing and football in Sydney. We had the large 2 bedroom apartment and it was really very good. Such a great location - walk to the beach, esplanade, ferry terminal. The one downside of such a great location is lack of parking (which they prominently warn about).

Great price for the location. Rooms was basic but to be 100m from the beach and all restaurants is great. We had a significant roof leak however the rain outside was unprecedented and we were compensated for the trouble.

This place doesn't claim to be five star & it certainly isn't. However when I head to Manly for the odd weekend on my own this place is perfect. Its central to everything so you can walk everywhere. The rooms are clean enough and there are heaters/air conditioning. If you're looking for a luxury hotel this isn't your place, however...

It was dirty , small, old, rundown. The breakfast consisted of stake bread. It smelt of chlorine and dirty socks. We paid over $455 to leave and the best decision we have made. The cheek to charge us $170 per night for dump. We are staying at the quest for $206 . It's stunning and immaculate. We have a dishwasher...

No hot water for the whole 4 days of visit. Shower rose didn't work. No tea or coffee. Breakfast was basic - just toast or sugary cereal. Exposed wires hanging from above shower. Delightfully incompetent managers however. Definitely not worth the money paid.

The accommodation in Manly is varied. From expensive 5 star properties to pubs who think they can charge 5 star prices for a 1 star experience. Luckily the Manly Lodge exists. I had the absolute cheapest room (which was still a little pricey). Fortunately I didn't bring my cat as the room was small. However, it was made very clear...

My friend and I took a room each at this establishment recently. To be described a boutique is a little misleading .Rundown would be a better description. My room was small, panelled in old imitation timber which made it dark and dingy, the timber floor had holes in it and the carpet was just threadbear. My mates room was even smaller than mine, the air conditioner...

Surprised by some of the negative reviews. This hotel is excellent value considering its in the heart of one of the best holiday places in Australia. We have stayed on many occasions. Never found it 'dirty'. Basis yes but quite clean. The simple breakfast was great as well. You will pay a great deal more in 'better' 4 or 5...

Staying in Manly

Neighbourhood Profile
Manly
A 40-minute ferry ride from Circular Quay will take you to the famous northern beach of Manly. The beaches here are perfect for learning to surf or spending the day sun-tanning. The walk from Spit Bridge to Manly is a great way to experience Sydney Harbour Bay and the Australian bush land. Along the foreshore, there are plenty of watering holes and wine bars with excellent cuisine. There are plenty of kid-friendly restaurants as well, especially along the family-oriented areas like Shelly Beach. An excellent way to experience Manly is to rent a bike and explore the dedicated bike paths and off road trails. The North Head National Park is another must-see. Located on the southern tip of Manly, North Head National Park offers great bushwalks and panoramic views of the city.
