I have just spent five nights at New Farm. I was on a course in the local area but didn't want to stay in a generic, anonymous business hotel. Instead I found New Farm and was so pleased that I did. The welcome from Sara was so warm and friendly. The room was comfortable, spacious and homely with a very...

We stayed here for a long weekend, the house was quiet, and well maintained. The breakfast was very good which made a good start to the day. Would recommend this guest house to anyone in the area, only one criticism was for £75 a night they could provide shower gel!!

We stayed here recently for 2 nights with our 15 month old daughter. It's such a lovely place, very homely and has lovely gardens that you can use. Breakfast was a good start to the day with fresh eggs from the farm and a good selection of fruit, nuts, yoghurt and cereals. The use of a microwave and fridge was...

We stayed here for a long weekend to celebrate my birthday in June. Tremendous welcome and loved the 17th century accommodation. We were made to feel really at home and the breakfasts were fantastic. Could relax in the lounge without feeling we had to rush out for the day. Rooms were clean and really comfortable. Sara is full of the...

If you want a friendly b&b that is sympathetic to the age of the building then look no further. The room was cosy and clean. The breakfast is wonderful! Although it's a working farm, near a main road, you would not know. Definitely will be back.

Really well run B&B on working farm. Old house has lots of character - our room spacious with everything needed. Generous breakfast. Sara and her team of helpers are lovely people and having lived locally 'for ever' know what to see and how to get there. Cardiff is only 30 mins on express bus from stop 100 meters down the...

Stayed at New Farm with our friends for a couple of nights. The room was small but clean and the breakfast was good. However, we were not met by anyone when we arrived and had to find our way to our room,(there was a note left for us though.) The bathroom was very small, which I know could not be...

Firstly, for somewhere which is meant to be close to Cardiff Airport, I can't recall sleeping anywhere quieter! We were greeted by Evan the dog (a cute little terrier) and found our quaint room which was clean and well provided. Hosts were very friendly and helpful. Unusual for a b & b there is a lounge for guests. A reasonable...

Stayed here on the off-chance and found a really welcoming, delightful b&b with a unique charm. This is a working farm and the family are extremely hospitable. Breakfast was excellent, the room was really nice and cosy with en-suite facilities. Ian and his family showed us around the farm, gave us very helpful recommendation for the local restaurants. (There is...

This is our second visit, this time with two children (3 and 7 months) and my parents. We stayed in the family room with en suite and my parents were down the corridor. We were supplied with a travel cot and a high chair was already set up for breakfast. Rooms are always clean and this time really cosy as...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
New farm is situated on the outskirts of Barry along the coastal road. Close to many attractions and places of interest. We are a working mixed farm with 320 blonde X charolais suckler herd and we farm approximately 700 acres. The house dates back to the early 17th century with the original oak beams in the dining room. We have been established as a B&B since 1984 and offer local knowledge, good Welsh hospitality with warm, comfortable, refurbished rooms. Our breakfasts are renowned. Visitors return year after year. You can walk to the pebble beach through our farm and Porthkerry Park. The train station is 5 min car drive away(park and ride) and the bus route passes the farm gate to Cardiff and the airport. Cardiff is approximately 20 minutes by car or train and the airport only 5 minutes. ... more   less
