We stayed through a secret escape voucher last night as an anniversary present. The castle is truly wonderful, the grounds, the little town, the history all fantastic. The welcome by the staff was also really positive. On check in, we asked what type of room we were being allocated as from previous experience, 'voucher' rooms are usually bad (I can... More

Myself and partner stayed here in room 211. The room was amazing, very clean and much bigger than expected. The castle grounds are lovely. The staff were very polite and helpful. The only thing that creeped me out was we had a very loud knock at our door and when we opened the door immediately there was no one there... More

Love coming here! The staff are excellent - I thought we had booked a twin room but the very large double was quickly changed into a twin with no-one making us feel that we were making a fuss. The breakfast was cooked to order so we had to wait a little while. Just standard breakfast. However, the evening meal was... More

Just got back from an afternoon tea at Ruthin Castle Hotel with my wife as an anniversary treat. Very underwhelming to say the least. On entering the hotel we were directed to the bar where we were told the afternoon tea was being held. The barman seemed surprised by this and re-directed us to the restaurant - hardly the best... My husband and I visited Ruthin Castle Hotel for afternoon tea last weekend. From the outside the hotel has a grand facade this continues inside though some parts do look tired (especially the toilets) and would benefit from an update. The afternoon tea provided a typical selection of sandwiches and cakes with tea or coffee, which was topped up as... More

This is a beautiful hotel in a beautiful location and at 1st glance seems to be perfect However the decor is dated (I know. ... its a castle ) but I mean that it needs work. .. It's grubby and dirty in the corridors. And the wooden floors need a good sweep. The cleaners of the bedrooms need a brush... More

Dear suzec666 As I am sure you will appreciate, the upkeep of a Castle is no easy feat. The challenges we face on a daily basis whilst maintaining a building of it's size are enormous and our team deal with these challenges to the best of their ability. We have wooden floors in the Reception, inner hall and Bar areas,... More

I was looking forward to an afternoon tea for my wife, children and I, unfortunately the experience was far from expected. The food was simply disappointing, the sandwiched we’re nothing special and were just store bought standard cheap bread with a miniscule amount of filling. The cakes were disappointing and tasteless (although I appreciate that is a matter of opinion)... More

My wife and I stayed at Ruthin Castle earlier this week for 1 night as part of a Groupon deal, with a 2 course meal and discounted treatment in the spa for us both. Our room was comfortable, if a little small, with plenty of gold leaf effect and a nice big bath. Dinner was preceded by a couple of... More

A beautiful old Welsh castle with stunning grounds complete with peacocks (there is 1 baby). The staff are very friendly & helpful, we didn't pre book afternoon tea but they were accommodating & the kitchen fitted us in. We recommend spending the extra money & staying in the older suites as opposed to the cheaper bunk accommodation and booking into... More
