This hotel is past its best. I feel very sorry for the staff who were marvellous and did their very best to provide a great service. Unfortunately they are very much let down by the hotel itself. We encountered a number of issues and problems which were addressed by the hotel manager, however trip advisor is about sharing our experiences and recommendations. Our shower didn’t have any hot water, the controls didn’t work. There was a bath which my husband ran and it took half an hour to half fill. Not great when you’re there to be out and about. I report the shower on our first morning in person at reception. Then breakfast arrived which was room service only at the time. The Special K best before date was 09/12/20 which we only noticed after my husband tasted some and thought it was stale. The bacon and sausage were extremely cheap meats. The bacon was extremely salty and the sausages meat was almost white, I’d say about 50% meat content. We left most of our breakfast as you just get put off from eating it with the disappointment of the quality. I told reception about the out of date cereal, to which they gave me some excuse about suppliers have extended best before dates on some items. As I’m a catering manager I think I’d have known about this. Plus I wouldn’t have accepted delivery of out of date items. Perhaps the rules in Wales are different to England but 5 months after the BB date is poor to say the least. When we return to our room in the early evening the shower had still not been fixed, I called reception. They were aware of an issue with the shower in our room and basically couldn’t do anything about it. We were assured that our room rate would be adjusted because of this issue. The next morning we opted for Continental breakfast which was ok. We had to give ourselves at least an extra hour to take baths in the morning on top of general getting read to go out before starting our day. There were holes in the duvet cover and the thermostat didn’t work, so the room was very hot. On check out there hadn’t been any adjustment to our bill but the receptionists sorted a little out but it wasn’t acceptable. Unfortunately we had to talk with the manager who made a more suitable room reduction. All in all, we won’t be booking again. The staff did try their best though.

Loved our stay at the Bulkeley Hotel. We asked for a room with a view and were not disappointed! We stayed in room 201 which had views over the Menai Strait and Snowdonia. The huge bed was really comfortable and the bath was amazing! All staff we encountered were friendly, approachable and fully COVID compliant. We stayed when indoor dining was still restricted so we had an evening meal by room service as it was quite blustery outside that evening. The food arrived at the time we requested and although there was a slight mix up with the order it was delicious! We also had breakfast in our room which again arrived promptly and was also delicious! We highly recommend this hotel and will be visiting again.

We stayed in room 108. It was a large room with huge bed with amazing Snowdonia views across menai estuary. They also provided room service breakfast. Evening dinner was on the outside terrace, which was excellent, the staff worked so hard to give us amazing food, under the circumstances they were outstanding and we will definitely return to this well run hotel in such a prime location.

Sadly they seemed too busy to worry about regulations and safety. Lunch was ok but pricey, slightly stale bread and food arrived before the drinks. However despite having set up COVID rules they seemed to be widely ignored. The tables were not always cleaned between customers, wait for the table to be cleared signs were ignored. Far more than 6 people round some tables, complete strangers sharing tables, customers ignoring no entry, exit only signs, staff not wearing masks properly. What they need is a determined member of staff outside controlling customers and dedicated to clearing and cleaning. Won’t be rushing back.

We are very sorry for your experience. The stunning weather and the sheer volume of tourists to Beaumaris yesterday took us somewhat by surprise and we were also sad to see some customers not following our clear Covid safety signage. We have immediately reacted to your advice by adding additional staff to today’s team to ensure customers are guided verbally as well as through signage and encouraged to follow our Covid procedures, and we have staff monitoring the customer flow through the building and sanitising tables between customers. We take Covid-secure policies very seriously and thank you for your feedback so that our procedures can be continually improved to provide as safe an environment as possible not only for our customers but also our team of staff.

We had a lovely stay despite the Covid restrictions. Our room was beautiful, with a wonderful view over the sea. The food was good. Room service was provided for both dinner and breakfast to comply with current regulations. This is a magnificent old hotel. All the staff who we encountered were both friendly and professional. We will be back.
