We came to monmouth to meet with my brother and his family who were visiting on a rugby trip from Cayman islands. We travelled from Wexford Ireland via rosslare - pembroke. It was easy to find and the travelling wasn't too excessive for our young family of ages 4 and 1. The accommodation is rustic and homely. It's comfortable and...

The venue is close enough to Monmouth centre to be a good choice for overnight stays, but the mattresses desperately need renewing. The shower was poor (head needed cleaning) and worst of all, after paying for what we thought was a cottage for the weekend, we were told on arrival that we needed to put £2 coins in the electricity...

Lovely location, nice cottages not luxurious but perfectly adequate for self catering.Don't be put off by having to feed an electricity meter, it uses very little. We put in 4 pounds for a weekend for 4.Great area for children to play and an excellent restaurant. They coped well with our large lunch party 30+. Hope to come again for our...

We stayed here for 6 nights in August. The cottage and scenery is beautiful but we felt let down by the service. It definitely isn't 4 stars (the price is!), after 2 showers our towels stank (as all hotel towels often do) and we asked for fresh ones, which were denied by the manager! We looked at the on site...

The cottages are a bit dated and it's true there are quite a lot of cobwebs. We presumably got the squeaky bed mentioned in other reviews. More seriously we disliked the mould in the bathroom, and it's never a good sign when you see a collection of "Don't do this....." framed documents displayed, even if they are worded courteously. We...

The cottage was quaint, but full of cob webs. The mattress has seen better days and was uncomfortable. The bedstead squeaked with every movement. We really liked the location, but as our cottage was roadside, it got very noisy at 7am each morning, so no lay in. I also would not expect a 4* to have a slot meter for...

Firstly, to anyone considering this as a wedding venue, The Stonemill, on site restaurant is amazing. The food is the best ever, the service perfect and Michelle and her team provided a first class event. However, the mature gentleman who lives in the grounds and I assume manages the cottages was far from welcoming, whether he was policing the car...

The cottages we rented for the night were beautifully presented in a picturesque farm 10 minutes drive from Monmouth. Having stayed in lots of places in and around Monmouth this is by far the best we've been to. Clean, warm and very comfortable. Can't fault it. Breakfast on Sunday mornings was wonderful. Will stay again for sure.

We stayed here as a group of nine friends and we could not fault the warmth of the welcome and hospitality, the great little cottages and the really good quality meals we had dinner, bed & breakfast was a great value deal at £75...and of you do that you don't have to worry about feeding the meters, definitely will come...

For a birthday treat, we booked into Steppes Farm for one night bed/breakfast and evening meal (to be eaten at the Stonemill, on site). We were warmly welcomed on our arrival and shown to the two bedroom cottage, Mole End. What a delightful surprise. The immaculate cottage has been lovingly restored and is full of character and charm. Ample room...
