Travellers' Choice
Beautiful things fill Lord Snowdon’s historic family home, with our talented Head Chef and TV personality, Daniel Ap Geraint's creativity hits the spot and the ten, en-suite bedrooms offer Wi-Fi and luxurious Molton Brown amenities. This is the family home of Lord Snowdon. It dates to the 1600s and stands in 15 acres with an avenue of oak that sweeps you up to the house. Princess Margaret stayed often and much of what fills the house belongs to the family: stunning chandeliers, oils by the score, gilt-framed mirrors – an Aladdin's cave of beautiful historic detail. There's a baby grand piano in the drawing room, where you find smart wood floors, an honesty bar and a fire that roars, but potter about the house and find masses of memorabilia framed on the walls (make sure you visit the private dining room). Bedrooms are quite something, the past mixing gracefully with modern design. Daniel, Annie and Baby Oliver have worked incredibly hard to transform many of the bedrooms with just 1 more to complete. Each room is designed around the story of the family using bespoke furniture, 4-poster beds where possible and lots of style and comfort in mind. Bathrooms are excellent, some with showers, others with free-standing baths. Your hosts Daniel & Annie (and baby Oliver) are supported by their fantastic team including Ferdi and Aled.

Arrived for a wonderful afternoon tea which left us replete and needing a rest. Our Llewelyn bedroom was luxurious with an enormous exceedingly comfortable bed. Slept like a log. Breakfast delicious. Beautiful quirky historic country house full of stylish items. Nothing was too much for the staff. Loved it and will be back.

A great hotel - I think we got a bit of a bum deal with ‘The Judges’ room - small, tiny bathroom with masticating toilet that makes a lot of noise and a small shower that only does “Hot”. Would like to stay again but would not accept this room. The hotel and grounds are lovely - lots of artifacts, interesting literature, pictures etc - all set in pleasant grounds. Staff friendly and professional, if a little ‘stressed’ - probably due to undermanning. One of the best breakfasts I have ever had - the quality of ingredients and the preparation/presentation was perfect. A hidden gem that is interesting and quirky, and it boasts a brilliant restaurant (the Gun Room) which provides a very good reason to stay here!

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay at Plas Dinas Country House. I am so pleased that you liked our beautiful country house, the gardens and the dining experience that we offer. I am sorry to read that you were not as happy with your room. You made your reservation through an external booking channel which individually lists the rooms for sale. You will have selected the Judges Room, our smallest room on offer at Plas Dinas. It does have the sizes, images of the bathroom and size of the overall bedroom listed. The channel doesn't individually allow hotels and accommodation providers to list the name of the individual room, but it is listed as a classic double room with shower. We list the rooms individually but with their description as that is the only way this can be done on this particular channel. We would recommend looking on the hotel website for the actual name, but all guests do book a specific room. The room is designed around the name or role that it is named after with this particular room having a more executive feel. There is a new half-tester bed due to arrive in a few weeks but it has been delayed like many things trying to make their way into the country. The bathroom is smaller than the others on offer, but it all depends on what your needs are as to whether or not it is suitable. We are blessed with the incredible history and a beautiful historic 400 year old building that boasts many incredible spaces. Plas Dinas is not just the hotel, it is about the experience, the story and the history. We have many larger rooms available to suit all sorts of requirements and budgets. Unlike many branded hotels our beautiful country house boasts individually designed bedrooms, individually listed for sale. Sadly as Plas Dinas is a graded building we are unable to remove the macerator. These are only in 3 out of the 10 rooms available and is also listed on the details of each room. Having taken over in September 2019, we used the 18 months of various lockdowns to redesign Plas Dinas. We are incredibly proud of what we offer here. Judges bathroom is having a redesign in November with everything here waiting to go. It won't change the size but it will be a brand new bathroom. We have not been informed of there being an issue with the hot or cold water and have just been in to check and there is indeed hot and cold water available. If there was an issue we would have liked the opportunity to rectify this before departure. We are sorry that our Judges room was not for you. We are pleased to read that you loved your breakfast 'one of the best you have ever had'. Great to read. Thank you. The team work incredibly hard and for anyone returning after the stop start of the last 18 months it has not been the easiest of times, but we certainly are very proud of our team. We did have an issue that guests arrived earlier than their selected breakfast time on a few tables that particular morning, which we tried to accommodate. We are sorry if this showed as a little stressed. They did their best to accommodate the changes with little time to change their flow of the morning which is so carefully thought through. The dining experience is something we are very proud of. It compliments the beautiful country house just perfectly. A dining experience not to be missed. We do hope to welcome you back to Plas Dinas should you ever visit the area. Please do take a look at our website before booking so that you can select a more suitable room for your requirements. Thank you once again for choosing to stay at Plas Dinas Country House.

We stayed 2 nights as we were visiting Port Merion. The house is set in beautiful grounds and is just outside Caernarfon. The staff were efficient and welcoming and our room was more than adequate. You had everything you might need and was immaculately clean. We were at the top of the house which did mean 2 flights of stairs one of which was narrow and with a bend. A little difficult if you have any walking difficulty. The room had low beams so you were conscious all the time about banging your head. I fully understand the Covid situation presents some problems but you pre-order breakfast the night before- you can’t change this in any way in the morning and maybe a little flexibility could help here. The food was good quality and well presented although we didn’t eat in the restaurant in the evening. A very pleasant stay in beautiful surroundings.

What a fantastic place, steeped in history and set in stunning parkland grounds with a well established garden. Our room, the Llewellyn, was perfect - spacious, clean and well maintained. The thoughtful complimentary touches were enjoyed, and the big bed was very comfortable! The dinner was a well thought out menu, a perfect combination between à la carte and taster experience - and it really was an experience, however hard I tried to snap a few candid photos of my plates, I became utterly distracted with enjoying the food and great wine. Breakfast was well organised, with a broad range of options made available for pre-order the day before. We look forward to returning to Plas Dinas, for the great service, high standards of cleanliness, but mostly its charm! We will certainly be recommending it to our family and friends!

A beautiful Country House with friendly welcoming staff set in an ideal location for exploring the Snowdonia area serving excellent food. However, we booked a classic double room which was very small with a very small double bed, for a 3 night stay we were extremely cramped and had to clamber behind the dressing table just open the window or shut the curtains. The bathroom was that small there was not enough room to dry yourself after showing

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay at Plas Dinas Country House. I am pleased to read that you enjoyed your time within the house and the delicious food that we offer. It is however disappointing to read that you did not enjoy your room. The Judges Room is the smallest of rooms that we offer here with all rooms individually for sale. The size of each room is listed and images of each space is photographed. The booking channel that you selected your room from does classify the rooms without allowing us to name the individual room, but you do select the room that you stay in from the start. All of our rooms were redesigned during the 18 month lockdown, with the exception of many bathrooms and in some areas we are gradually working through phase two. We have a beautiful half tester bed in king size arriving in October for this room. Sadly it was delayed as it should have arrived early August. The bed in there at present is a standard double, this is listed on all sites that we are available on. The duchess dressing table is designed to offer many additional, practical surfaces in the room. The room is designed around the idea of it being a judges corporate room. Not like the romantic spaces that we offer in many of the other rooms. The way the dressing table stool is positioned to having enough space to work, it is all with the concept of a Judge returning from court. There are two sets of curtains there, the first are a faux pair, simply there for design. The second, close without any need to stretch. We highly recommend to all guests that our 10 individually designed bedrooms are reviewed before booking. Whether it be the design, the facilities or simply the space. We offer a vast selection of designs with many guests returning a few times a year. We are very sorry that you were unhappy with your selected room on this occasion. If you were to return we would highly recommend that you book direct with our team who will be able to advise you on the availability and sizes of rooms, but they are individually listed on all sites, it will all depend on our availability and August was incredibly busy.
