Hubby and I finally managed to get to this wonderful place after tiebreak cancellation. Nothing was too much trouble, we both felt very comfortable and even with restrictions we felt safe and looked after. Eating by the fire in the bar on 1st night was very romantic and the food was out of this world. The restaurant was also very comfortable and the food was again impeccable. A beautiful relaxing stay. Thank you do much.
Our second visit this year. We had an excellent afternoon tea by the fire served by very friendly staff and we felt covid safe at all times. We are looking forward to visiting again when conditions allow.
Booked the Hand for our birthdays. Had to delay for a couple of weeks because of Covid. We were a bit nervous, not been out much since March. Need not have worried, Covid procedures very mush in evidence. We were put at ease by our hosts. We have been before, about 18months ago. Enjoyed it so much we wanted to come back. Lovely warm welcome. Same room as before. Comfortable and well supplied with tea and coffee. The best part of staying here is the food. It was excellent. Ate well all three evenings we were there. My favourite was the pigeon breasts. The vegetables which accompanied the meat were well chosen to give a taste of Autumn, earthy and comforting. The wines are great too. If you ask nicely they will make you a cocktail or two. Good choice for breakfast. On Sunday we went to Pistyll Rhaeadr. If you have not been you should go. Fantastic drive through lovely scenery. Pistyll Rhaeadr is a fabulous waterfall in a delightful setting. There is a cafe too. All in all a great stay. It takes a lot for us to leave our island paradise of Anglesey, The Hand is always worth the effort. A big thank you to the staff for making us feel welcome and safe.…
Being Wrexham county residents we could not leave the county but visiting the Hand in the Ceiriog valley was a delight. The hamlet of Llanarmon DC lies close to the Berwyns and the hotel provides very good food, comfortable accommodation and friendly staff and customers. The log fires add to the character of this historical hotel and the way COVID-19 measures are followed is very reassuring. The food on offer is varied, different from the run of the mill restaurants, beautifully cooked and presented. The staff waiting on the tables are very efficient and nothing is too much trouble. They are also dog friendly. Great idea in a walking area plus they have three rooms which can be used for dogs (and owners) sleep overs. Good outdoor seating areas when weather permits. The hotel is listed with Welsh Rarebits and well deserved. Do take time to visit and stay and ask them for their Sunday dinner bed and breakfast deal.…
The 10 miles or so drive from the nearest main road was through a beautiful wooded valley landscape. Llanarmon is best described as "nestled" at the end of this lovely drive. The hotel itself is old---in a good way---cosy, and full of character . Jonathan & Jackie Greatorex are very welcoming and extremely helpful hosts. The staff are friendly and give the feeling that nothing is too much trouble. The food, breakfast and dinner, can only be described as wonderful. First rate ingredients perfectly and straightforwardly cooked, but sometimes in combinations (lamb & figs) that worked and made you wonder why you hadn't had that before. Excellent and extensive wine list. Because we stayed during the pandemic, necessary precautions were in evidence, but they were more a reassurance of our safety there than a heavy handed set of rules. We felt safe and looked after...and very well fed. Can't wait to return.…
