From the moment we drove in we knew we’d struck gold for the next 3 nights. What an amazing off grid location. Sheena met us on arrival and showed us our new ‘home’, and was on hand for anything we needed during our stay. Everything you could possibly need is catered for. We took advantage of cooking outside every evening, using the fire lighting technique tips from Ed, whilst soaking up the sundown. It was just the getaway we needed in these crazy times. Jamie and Sheena run an incredible escape, we will most definitely be back!
This was our second visit to The Forge and the kids are already pestering us to book again. The setting is beautiful with views of the mountains all around you. Each bell tent as its own little area with a fire pit, kitchen and composting toilet (these are much better than they sound, very clean and easy). Sheena and Jamie, who own it, couldn't be more welcoming and help make it even more of an experience - this visit we did axe throwing and foraging! Perfect family weekend away.
Neither of us had been glamping before and we both loved our time there. It's very easy to reach (make sure you don't miss the smallish sign) and very well appointed indeed. We had one of the bell tents. The place was full, but in absolutely no way was it crowded or noisy. Each tent is on its own wooden platform and you get your own little hut ( well a shelter really) with mains cold water and two gas burners. Plus it is fully stocked with all utensils and crockery etc etc. You really just need to bring the food (and a towel). There's no mains electricity but the solar power all worked well, including the solar phone charger. You can cook in your little shelter but using the firewood they have to cook on a hotplate over a firepit is far more fun. We managed two meals of steaks / burgers/ potatoes and salad with no bother. You get a little wood stove in the tent. It can maybe get a little cold in the morning when it goes out. So probably best come prepared for that. But its quick to get going and heat up. You have your own personal toilet. Composting toilet that is. Very clean and not smelly. And they provide ample toilet paper. The shower was at the other end of the field, though again all very well set up. Parking easy and you even get a wheelbarrow to move you stuff to and from the car. The owners, Jamie and Sheen, are lovely and ever so helpful. There were just the two of us and there was masses of room in the tent. Would be good for families and groups as well. Since its near Corwen it's within reach of loads of places. The Rhug Estate is only 10 minutes away by car. They have a farm shop which sells stuff to barbecue, which we did on our second night. We would definitely come here again.…
We had a great few days at The Forge. I can highly recommend. We will be returning next year and will be trying a few of the courses on offer. A great family escape and getting back to nature, my little girl loved every minute. Thanks
The Wild Wellness Retreat was amazing, I only wish it would've been longer! A great stay at the Forge. The food was amazing and the tents were spacious, cosy and you had everything you could need in your kitchen. Sheena, Jamie and Ed were all happy to help with anything that we needed and were so friendly and welcoming. I'll be back :)
