The two rooms in which we stayed were large, clean and well appointed, and had a vaguely Scottish baronial feel: it was easy to imagine that the next morning we'd be out with the beaters and guns on a grouse moor, rather than setting off on a prosaic trip to Dunoon. We booked dinner at the B&B as Wigtown seems...

Many thanks for taking the time to add your review - and glad you were inspired by your stay with us! No grouse, but deer stalking and pheasant shoots can be arranged :)

Stayed here for 3 nights in June in the Superior Room, which certainly was!! A huge room with comfortable chairs looking out towards Wigtown Bay. It was useful to have such a big room as we had a large seating area, and as I was doing my Ancestry, I had space to write stuff up in the evening. The house...

An elegant b and b with style and comfort. We had the four poster bedroom with a view over the solway firth, just beautiful. The room was quiet and peaceful, tastefully decorated and the breakfast was pretty decent too.

We stayed at Hillcrest House for 7 nights in May, and enjoyed every minute of our stay. Our room (the Moray) was large, spacious, warm, comfortable and spotlessly clean - and the seating area in the bay windows provided lovely views (and a bright comfortable spot to gloat over all the books you've acquired in Wigtown's bookshops). Our room was...

My wife and I spent two very comfortable and gastronomically satisfying nights at this wonderful guest house in Wigtown. The town itself is delightful and welcoming, but it was made all the more enchanting by our stay at Hillcrest. The room we had was huge and very comfortable, boasting a fabulous view of the countryside and sea. Breakfast was perfect,...

Had a very pleasant 2 night family break on a voucher deal. Andrew met us on arrival & both he and his wife Deborah saw us off on departure. Nothing was too much trouble, advice on where to visit was volunteered over breakfast, which itself is in my top 3 best breakfasts ever. We paid a supplement for Moray which...

I was visiting Wigtown with my elderly parents. Deborah and Andrew couldn't have been more helpful and accomodating. The room on the ground floor was excellent for my parents. My roon, Solway, had lovely views out to the Solway Firth. Both rooms were spacious, and a pleasure to stay in. We had a delicious evening meal, which Deborah had kindly...

Stayed here for a 2 night break. Our room was called Beauly and was lovely. Excellent view of the Solway Firth, comfortable bed, very clean and modern bathroom, pets allowed which was nice as we brought our cat. Andrew the owner was lovely, and the breakfast was excellent. We would highly recommend this lovely cosy hotel. Regards Amanda and Brian.

Stayed for 1 night on the way to a cottage holiday on the coast. A lovely grand old building looking out over the flats of the estuary. Our room was called Dornoch and although it doesn't have the classic view over the bird sanctuary this didn't matter to us. The room was warm and comfortable with a very good shower...
