We were staying in Portpatrick and went to the Downshire for an evening meal. There were 4 adults and three children in our party. The food was good old pub grub - it was all hit and it all came on time and together. Everyone had clean plates and everyone enjoyed it. The staff were friendly, and there was a...

Found this by accident on my way to the Post Office. It seems to do a good trade and the food seems excellent. They serve lunch until 2pm. The girl behind the bar is a local. She is friendly and welcoming. I suppose this is a great bar at weekends as it is a Sports Bar too. I recommend it

Called into the restaurant, as the boards outside were appealing, bar was busy so we were advised to go up to the restaurant, upstairs we were told we should have booked! There was a party of 5 and a party of 2 there so not hugely busy, On ordering I picked something from the specials menu and then asked for...

We are sorry to hear you are disappointed with your experience in our restaurant. We do take complaints very seriously and after investigating this we feel that there had been a misunderstanding with the waitress who was a trainee. She had not passed onto the kitchen that you wanted the starter as a main course size and this does reflect...

Stayed here with three other guys in two twin rooms whilst golfing in the area. The rooms were basic but very clean and with a Tv and coffee/tea facilities. We had food on each of our three nights in the attached pub which was excellent. Really good base and Portpatrick is a stunning place. What stood out was the warm...

We used this as our "local" for our holiday in Portpatrick, The hotel has a sports bar, where our dog was made welcome. Food and drink were very reasonable, the chicken, haggis and bacon was particularly delicious. What really made this a lovely place to go was the barmaid (sorry I do not know her name) but she made each...

We have visited Portpatrick many times and stayed in this hotel. This visit however was not so pleasant. The breakfast was excellent and Heather, one of the wait staff was so attentive and polite. As for the actual hotel, well as I already know these hotels are all very old buildings but, a big bit of upgrading needs done in...

Spent a single night here....a long night!! The pub next door has live music on til midnight on Friday and Saturday night; not great if you are traveling with a 18 month old toddler that needs her sleep, as do her parents. The web site didn't have any reference to this and should. The hotel is grubby and the carpets...
