The Dryburgh Abbey Hotel sits on the banks of the River Tweed in the breathtaking Borders countryside. Next to the historic ruins of Dryburgh Abbey, Sir Walter Scott's last resting place, it offers a fabulous location for fishing, cycling, walking, or simply enjoying a relaxing leisure break. Quality local produce is served in the tranquil setting of the Tweed resataurant by friendly and attentive staff. The proximity of the hotel to the Abbey also makes it an ideal venue for that special wedding day.

Despite having seen some positive reviews I would not recommend this hotel. We stayed early January for 2 nights and on arrival the radiator was turned off and the room very cold. The second night we returned to find the heating had been turned off yet again and as a bonus there

Dear Duncan, Thank you for taking the time to leave some comments following your recent stay with us. It goes without saying that we are extremely sorry that we did not meet your expectations this time round. You stayed as part of a very large group, and on the whole, the feedback from the party and the organisers has been very positive. It is always our aim to satisfy everyone and it is obviously very frustrating that we have not accomplished this. We were obviously very keen to ensure that your group left for your day’s shooting well fed, and this is why we agreed to the group’s request to provide a hot breakfast at 6.30 am (our normal service begins at 7.30 am). In our defence, this request was only submitted to the hotel the day before you arrived. We will always do our utmost to satisfy the requests of our guests but the timeliness of this request did make it challenging for us to provide a typical breakfast service. Personally, I think our staff deserve much credit for their willingness to begin work earlier than anticipated in an effort to meet this last-minute request. I am very sorry that you did experience a shortfall of hot water. As the group returned from the field in bulk, and were dining together, there was an unprecedented bathing demand for hot water at the same time. This is very unfortunate and happens extremely rarely at the Dryburgh. We do have large hot water tanks, but as with most heating systems, once emptied, they take a little time to reheat. Again, I would reiterate my apologies. Thanks again for taking the opportunity to pen a review of the Dryburgh Abbey Hotel and I hope my comments have been helpful in some way. We all hope that you will take an opportunity to visit us again. Very best wishes, Craig

Throughly enjoyed our two night stay between Christmas and New Year. The hotel it's self is a fantastic looking building. Our room was very spacious and clean with massive dual aspect bay windows. Very traditional rooms and decor. Well stocked bar and two nice restaurants. We

There's no doubt the hotel is in a stunning location and the grounds and views are lovely. The room we stayed in was very tired and not overly clean. The bathroom especially had mould behind the taps and the material shower curtain looked like it hadn't been washed in months. We

Had a fabulous return visit to this hotel attending one of the Christmas party nights. Food was lovely at the party night and breakfast the next day hit just the right spot. We stayed in a lovely clean room overlooking the river. Would definitely recommend.

Can you drink you own alcohol in your room
I don't think any hotel wants you to but can't stop you if you're discreet about it. We certainly did as we have two young children and couldn't stay out late.

Dear Colin, Yes Dryburgh Abbey Hotel does have bedrooms suitable with disabled facilities. In terms of groups for larger ones would have separate dining however similar menus to other guests unless specified. We look forward to welcoming you to Dryburgh next year.
