After a hard few days on the West Highland Way, we were looking forward to a good rest at Strathfillan Wigwams after a shorter 10 mile day. I had been a couple of times before and stayed in the wigwams previously which are basic but cosier than a tent! We booked the Yurt this time as a bit of an upgrade with extra comfort. The yurt is located directly behind the shop. It was cosy but hard to get a happy medium temperature, it was like a sauna with the wood burner on but at night the temperatures dropped and we were cold as soon as the fire died down. You would need to keep stoking the fire through the night to keep warm. We forgot our sleeping bags so our own fault really but with 3 layers of clothing on and 2 pairs of socks, I think I would have been just as cold with a sleeping bag. We didn't get much sleep and the cockrel woke us up abruptly in the morning as the chicken coop is right next to the shop. We were quite disappointed at having to pay £1 for 8 minutes of shower time considering we paid £70 for the night and most campsites have the use of facilities included in the price... We were very thankful of the washing machine and tumble dryer so we could have fresh clothing for the rest of our journey. I didn't mind having to pay for using these (they are metered) but it was about £6 just for a 'daily wash' with some detergent from the shop, which left us no change to use the tumble dryer which the meter initially indicated 'free' but it turned out they just turn the meter off when they use the same machines for the hired linen etc. So ended up having to dry off our clothes on our camping chairs and DIY washing line on the trees as we ran out of change by the time we paid for the washing machine, powder and showers. We were just lucky it was a warm sunny day. It does seem a bit overpriced. It's understandable small businesses need to recoup money from losses made during covid but this might put people off coming back in future which is a shame... I would go back as have had some good times here before. I wouldn't recommend it for walkers on the whw though because if you stay at the bottom end, the constant cock a doodle doo gets annoying and will wake you up with a jolt in the morning. If you stay up the top at the back of the site, it is more secluded, quieter and has another toilet and shower block as well as a lounge area with TV and kitchen facilities. But after a long day walking, it's a bit of a slog up the hill to the top of the site. If going again for a night or two, would take the car and stay up the top of the site, as far away from the Cockerell as possible!

What a beautiful weekend. Out in the open with a fire blazing. Cooking outside and eating alfresco. The cabins were just as described and staff couldn't be friendlier or more helpful. The scenery is absolutely stunning with plenty of amazing views and landmarks to see. Booked again for September and can't wait 🔥

Been to a few wigwam holiday sites now and this is the only one that's ever let me down. Two nights in a row kept awake with blaring music and people up shouting at the wee small hours. The first night after finally getting a hold of someone on site the problem was dealt with half-hearted and the music turned down a bit. The rowdy guests however weren't. Night two, no one around to check the same thing didn't happen again. If you're am idiot who normally goes to Spain on your package holiday and is looking for somewhere to party during covid travel restrictions and doesn't understand how to behave on a campsite then this will be right up your street! Otherwise if you're looking for some peace on the outdoors or with a young family then I would avoid like the plague. I'm not a big user of trip advisor but there's not much else to do whilst lying wide awake at 1.30am.

We booked a lodge 4 nights. Paid £320 and got the normal confirmation email. I insisted my partner call to check the booking and when she did she was notified that the site was closed and the Internet page was not in there control. Also told there was folk carried there break from last year!
