The hotel is probably an old building which was refurbished, althought the refurbisment is proabbly almost vintage itself. Not the most confortable or glamourous hotel, but it has some Overlook Hotel appeal. The upper floor hosts the breakfast room and an astonishing lounge with a bar and a very large sitting area with couches with brocade impression.

Reading other reviews I was hesitant to book my stay here. But I decided to give it a try. I was rewarded with a very pleasant surprise: - The staff was very friendly, helpful and accommodating. - All the premises were very clean - Towels and bedding were of excellent quality - Buffet breakfast have plenty of choices, including a full cooked breakfast - Ample common areas for socialising - Plenty of spaces for parking your vehicle - Very spacious twin rooms - Beautifully landscaped gardens - Comfortable mattresses Even though what follows would not putt me off from staying here, I think it would be fair to also note that the atmosphere is nothing too special, perhaps a large hotel that can accommodate coaches. Some of the soft furnishing colours are fading (curtains,

Hotel staff was very nice and accommodating but the first room we were given was unique to get to. You appeared to walk in a hall used by the staff for storing glassware, across a former banquet room that was nice in its day but now sitting empty, past a closet that wouldn't close and was spilling out a pile of old rugs and construction equipment. Eventually got to a very worn room. We were going to stay in it, but then realized the door wouldn't lock. The lock worked, but the door and the door jam weren't aligned so the door could just be pushed open. The staff again was very nice and gave us a different room. It was upstairs. We used the elevator that just reeked of Raid. The next morning the hallways were filled with the smell of cigarette smoke. It was pervasive.

This was by far the cheapest hotel in the area and as I was only using it for a stop whilst walking in the area I wasn't looking to spend much. It is in a fantastic location and the hotel looks excellent from outside, however the rooms could do with money being spent on them. We did not eat in the bar as there is a lovely hotel nearby which has excellent bar meals and a really good atmosphere. We came. back to the bar in the hotel about 1045 and were the only ones there. Staff were all pleasant. If going do not expect too much and be aware there always seems to be late deals so worth waiting if you can. Excellent stop for the West Highland Way.
