First, this is a 3 star hotel in a small town in the Highlands, not a big city 5 star, so set your expectations. The location and the views from the top floor bar and restaurant are excellent. Nice room, with plenty of space and good facilities, although wi-fi is patchy. Staff were friendly but busy, obviously short a person or two (but so is everywhere else at the moment post-brexit/COVID).
Hotel in the centre of the country. You need a car to travel to Loch Lomond etc There are plenty of areas to go walking . The hotel has comfortable rooms with tea and coffee making facilities . The bar opens at 5 ,We had a nice dinner in the restaurant. The breakfast was excellent and self derive but the quality of cooking and produce was very good. The hotel staff were friendly but were not very knowledgable about local activities. Great location for a chill out holiday.
For an excellent price this hotel was clean, comfortable and in a lovely location. Breakfast was delicious and promptly served. All staff friendly and polite. Could not ask for more. Ignore the miserable people who have grumbled about this place, serial complainers no doubt.
Booked two rooms for two nights. Only stayed for one as not happy with accommodation or restaurant. The room I had was tiny for a double, which we would have put up with but was so filthy. Disgusting stains in the bathroom & bath panel breaking away with dirt from behind it seeping out. Thick dust on skirting, peeling & stained wallpaper, insects crawling up the wall & on the ceiling. My husband was killing them before I’d get in the bed. We would have walked away & looked elsewhere if it hadn’t been so late & no internet was available to book anything at the time. Friends room was larger but lacking in cleanliness & no plug for the bath which they asked reception for but hotel couldn’t supply. We went to reception to see if they would give us another room but they were fully booked. After viewing the dinner menu on their website before we arrived I booked a table for four of us. The menu we were presented at the table was alien to the one we viewed. We asked for the dinner menu displayed in reception but the waiter said as there was a coach party to cater for we had to have the same menu as allocated to them which was a set menu with no choices. Told the waiter I was gluten free & nothing suitable. Rather relieved looking at what was served up to the coach party as it looked awful. Chopped up tiny pieces of mixed veg which looked either frozen or tinned & the rest on the plate looked mushy. It was now 8.45 pm so getting worried. We decided to go down the road to the cafe which we just managed to get served before they closed & it was very good. Next morning saw the duty manager & took him round to look at the disgusting room we had to sleep in. He apologised & nodded that it wasn’t good. He then offered us another room for the second night which we declined. No offer of compensation & still charged us the full price of the night we stayed.…
Basic three star hotel nothing more nothing less. Think it suffers from lack of staff post brexit. looked at reviews so did not use the restrauant or breakfast options. Area though was great and with investment could be a great hotel.
